I figured I'd do a quick review of the Android games I've been playing as an excuse to bump up activity (and my post count)...
For anyone who's interested I've been playing games mostly on my Galaxy Nexus and also on my Wife's Nexus 7. Just as soon as Nexus 10s are less rare than rocking horse poo I intend to buy one of those bad boys.

Theme Park
I had high hopes for this one. I really enjoyed Theme Park back in the day. A complex simulation like SimCity but not as po-faced and rather more focussed. Unfortunately what you have on Android is a Theme Park skinned Farmville wannabe.
Gameplay consists of going round the different rides and shops and collecting money once a day. Take that money to build new stuff. There's no interaction between the things you build though, so you may as well just shove anything in anywhere as long as you build an even number of shops and rides. There's no "Add salt to fries to sell more drinks" style gameplay, just click to collect and then wait another X hours and do it again.
Adding insult to injury there's microtransactions to buy Super Tickets which let you unlock new rides and themes for your park. But as it makes no difference to gameplay I see no reason to do it.
On the plus side the graphics are lovely and enchanting to my little lad.

Slingshot Racing.
In the future it will be steampunk time. With rocket powered bobsleds. Ok, that doesn't make any sense but it's a racing game, sense doesn't need to come into things.
Essentially your bobsled navigates the courses by shooting a grappling rope out of the side to hook pillars and make corners. The trick of the game is in the timing to get the perfect slingshot around the corners and keep the racing line into the next turn. What starts out as frustrating quickly becomes easy and then tricky again as the courses become more and more twisty.
There are various game modes beyond a simple 4 way race round the circuit such as best lap, pick up cogs that are scattered on a track and the best of all, escape the demented Zamboni/Combine Harvester hybrid that chases 4 racers round the track until only one's left.
The only downside is a slightly unnecessary 3 star system that feels like it's there only because that's how Angry Birds does things. And even then it's fun enough that you don't particularly mind putting the effort in to get that one perfect lap.
Cost $1 and is plenty of fun for the money. Recommended, although mostly for tablets, I don't think this'd work on a small screen.
