Week 5 Games

Brewers Brawlers vs Everglade Wanderers

SuchDodge vs OverCheesers

Sorry for the lack of fluff guys, I've been silly busy this week. If I get a chance to add some stuff in later I will do.

Btw, I'll be available on Sunday for a game against one of my fellow knocked out teams. Who wants it?

Looks like an interesting semi final!

In their first games the Everglade Wanderers beat the Brewers Brawlers  4 - 1 and The OverCheesers beat SuchDodge 3 - 1. Whilst I would expect the Wood Elves to get some fast touchdowns in before the Dwarves injure too many of their players, I have no idea what to expect from LtSpinx in this game. I am genuinely hoping he wins (sorry Gandalf), but equally, his tackle poses the biggest threat to my dodge. I'd also like to go up against the Wood Elves again, now that I have a bit more experience.

I'm quite excited about the Amazons vs Skink game, especially considering la and I have a bit of a friendly media blackout enforced. In our last friendly, I think I beat him 1 - 0 but la wasn't on top form that night. As far as I'm concerned our match could go either way.

My game - I think if I get 2 ahead it will be hard. As ever when playing my team, a lot will depend on how good effective my opponent's inducements are. I've got a few more promotions good for playing against dwarves this time round so I'm actually feeling more confident this time than last time (I was aiming for a draw last time - 4-1 really flattered me).

Why are you hoping he wins id3nt?

I'm hoping for id3nt to win against the Skaven as I lost to the Skaven :p But then, I think the main reason I lost to the Skaven was terrible dice rolls at the wrong moment, and id3nt's inexperience was a factor in me beating him, so what will be will be. I just want to see lots of touchdowns!

Practical question - will there be overtime if it is a draw?

Sadly due to the incompetence of the league commissioner there's no overtime built in. This will be fixed next season.

For now there are two options:
1. Replay any draws midweek
2. Use points criteria from the matches, so touchdowns followed by casualties etc.

3. Previous results between the teams?  ;D

I guess we'll have to decide between us. Personally I feel using tiebreaks would be a bit lame, but the extra time for playing again might be a bit of a drag.

We could play another sudden death game... and then just end turn after the first touchdown.

Because I don't fancy playing your Wood Elves again :P plus, he's the underdog!

Overtime isn't sudden death though it's 4 turns extra each. Plus with overtime you have injured players, ko'ed players, potentially the players in some crazy locations as of the end of turn 16...

Also if we went with your plan, there would be way too much resting on the outcome of the coin-toss - that team is much more likely to score.

Ha... fair enough. I'd've thought the dwarves would've been much the more frustrating opponent for your Amazons though.

Actually, I've had more practice against slower bashy teams and whilst tackle does negate my dodge, I'll be trying to spend as little time in tackle zones as possible.

Well Jim, it's been a hell of a competition. Literally.

That's right Bob, and even when those chaos cultists were escorted from the pitch there has been some excellent Blood Bowl. And now we're looking forward to the grand final of the RT Cup!

We certainly are Jim. The two teams that have survived this long are the Everglade Wanderers and the OverCheesers. Wood Elves against Skaven. It's a classic matchup that should provide plenty of touchdowns and even more injuries!

Here's hoping Bob, here's hoping. The crowds are ready, the teams are primed, it's time for... THE RT CUP FINAL!

Apologies for being nearly entirely silent, my wife was watching tv in return for sorting out the children if they woke up which one has been doing this week :)

edit:
Final score: OverCheesers 1 - Everglade Wanderers 1. Took until Turn 14 for the elves to score, then the skaven scored in their turn 15... Pretty violent first half (not sure why the below doesn't show it? There were various badly hurts I thought, and I had a death on a failed GFI). The dice were actually pretty even, although my scoring move didn't make it look like it was, and my casualty dice were quite poor.

Well played gandalf, it was hard fought :)

Finished 1-1. Cagey first half. First touchdown developed over a couple of turns, first he lightening-striked one of my players guarding my ball carrier, so he then blitzed my guy with the ball, who fell down beside the touchline, the ball then bounced out of play and landed next to one of my players (!!!), he tried to pick it up and failed. The field was quite broken at this point, and with a few decent rolls I managed to pass it into the touchdown zone.

With 3 turns left, la equalized by managing to get 3 (!!!) gutter runners past my guy with tackle, I tried to 2xGFI + blitz him but failed the second GFI. If my defence was up to scratch I could've made it a bit harder, but as with most people (I imagine) I find attack a lot easier than defence - trying to anticipate where everyone can be in the space of 2 minutes... so yeah he scored, it finished 1-1.

Both teams had some crazy rolls at times but overall the luck felt even. It was a heck of a game to play in, and I think the spectators enjoyed it too.

As I'm not American, the idea of a draw does not offend me, so I'm happy to call it a shared title...?

That would be fair!

I don't want to give up my skaven team after only one season of development though, incidentally :)

I was considering dropping that rule anyway. Just so long as we get a decent churn of races and no super high TV monster teams.

Congratulations gents!
