RT Cup Hall of Fame

Postby Gandalf » Wed Jun 25, 2014 9:47 pm

Everyone knows I love recording stats and such like, so here is a brief history of the RT Cup. If you have some additions for the memorable moments then do suggest them. I'll do some fancy formatting at some point.

Season 1
Entrants = 5. Format = All teams play each other once.
Winner - The Weird Outcasts (Notjarvis' Chaos)
Will be remembered for: an open competition in which everyone won 1 or 2 games.
Gandalf's repeatedly terrible dice-rolling.
Raveen forgetting that elves can pass the ball (he had been playing the AI too often).

Season 2
Entrants = 8. Format = 2 groups of 4, which determined the seeding for the knockouts, which everyone qualified for.
Winner = Jointly between Overcheesers (lawastooshort's Skaven) and Everglade Wanderers (Gandalf's Wood Elves).
Will be remembered for: Every Apothecary re-roll on a death was turned into another death.
Dwarf passing.
The 2 most mobile teams reaching the final and having an epic match.

Season 3
Entrants = 9. Format = league, everyone plays everyone else once.
Winner = The Weird Outcasts (Notjarvis' Chaos) - their second title.
Will be remembered for: Lots of low-quality teams (4 of the 5 bottom-tier teams appeared) who did a good job in providing entertainment (thrown players, a crazy array of weapons etc)
Hilarity with thrown bombs
Notj's dull but effective march to the title, drawing 1 and winning the rest
No-one really passing the ball, except for Idan's elves who did an extreme amount of it

Season 4
Entrants = 10. Format = league, everyone plays everyone else once, followed by cup, competed for by top 8 in the category of rushing yards.
Winners = lawastooshort and his Underworld team The Mighty Undercheesers (league winners, cup runners-up), and Gandalf's Wood Elves, the Everglade Wanderers (league runners-up, cup winners)
Will be remembered for : Norse starting very strongly then fading at the end. Rules/spirit of the game drama.

Season 5 - that's what she said
Entrants = 9. Format = Same as season 4, cup qualification is receiving count (this appears to consist of caught passes & kick-offs).
Winners = notjarvis and his Lizardmen who ran away with the league, 8 wins out of 8. They were defeated in the cup final by Raveen's Khemri team of Pinewood Carrions.
Will be remembered for :
Notjarvis destroying everyone
la's declaration of the Vampires coming back in season 6

Season 6
Entrants = 9. Same setup as previous 2 seasons. Cup qualification is most knocked over.
Winners = ???
Will be remembered for : ???

----------------------- Team Season Records -----------------------

Season 3 onwards, league games only. Highest average wins but ties are listed sometimes. Most if not all of these categories are from the end of season boards - no fussing around looking at individual matches.

And a special record from season 1, because I can still remember the utter futility of anything I tried in the game... unlikely to ever be beaten...

Biggest gap in dice rolls ever : D6... Everglade Wanderers (47 rolls, -21.78) vs The Weird Outcasts (24 rolls, 21.67). 2D6 was -24 to 2.17, and I had 4 turnovers from 21 attempted blocks.

I've gone through and uploaded what I think is all of my old Wood Elf matches to the over-arching RT cup competition. So I'm featured quite highly on the above listings now. It's not a hugely time-consuming activity, if you have something to do inbetween whilst the game plays (I did household chores in sight of the PC:)).

At some point when I'm at the PC I'll check that we don't have any doubles where two people have uploaded the same game (not sure if this is automatically sorted by BBM or not).

I don't think it is sorted by BBM. Ident and I uploaded the same game last night and it appeared twice in S4 until I deleted my upload.

Has anyone noticed, all the awards won by my Dwarf team are passing related.

Updated with a brief recap of season 4, any more highlights suggested I can stick them in. I worry that if I type a load of things they will be too me-centred.

Noticed my Wood Elves are on 54 touchdowns (probably 56 once the cup final is uploaded, I'll look into that). I'll probably retire them when I get to 100. :) Hopefully I can get a player with maximum level-ups and get over 1000 yards passed, 100 passes etc. too. :-)

It is done.

Whew. Percy has just had a huge bout of nostalgia, invited PirlOrc over and watched all the replays of his matches.

He misses playing. Percy could've swore he saw a tear in PirlOrc's eye too.

If you got round to uploading your games I think we'd see the Vamps and the Underworld fly up the league a bit.

And the players too.

Good work with the uploads.

I've updated the top post with records from this season, so far. A few all-time one-match records appear to have fallen, such as ELO's most attempted blocks in a match (68), seeing 3 sendings off in one match, most injuries in a match (8) both in matches featuring Shiny Demon and most knockdowns in one match (18) by Azgorh Rock-Knockers.

If Archimedes exceeds Grisly Philips' biggest brute record I shall be very disappointed and may be forced to bring the Carrions back.

Well it's happened... so are the Carrions coming back?
