Welcome to Season 3 everyone. Grizzled veterans and grizzled rookies alike are lining up to take each other out!

Admin: There is a BBM League created - RT Cup Season 3 - Pw= Palmtree
I have also created an overall BBM league called RT Cup (Pw= Palmtree). I want to use this to record all our games from all seasons so we have a record of past teams and players. So for all future games please submit the match to both leagues. For past games you'll need to watch the game in a replay before submitting it. obviously that's optional but it'd be nice to have a complete record.

Schedule: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing - still very WIP, sorry!

So... the Orcy Ducklings beat the Mighty UnderCheesers 1-0 in our first game.

The underworld were lucky enough to get a blitz on kickoff, but I didn't really know what to do with it - eventually the orcs got the ball free, broke down the left, knocked over the flimsy screen, and scored.

The underworld had 3 turns to score back, and knocked a hole down the orc left, and screened off a runner near the touch line. But the screen wasn't quite good enough, and the goblin-rats couldn't make it through.

Then the second half kicked off, and the orcs got a lucky kick right down the bottom right of the underworld pitch - which the eejit skaven thrower took two turns to pick up. All sorts of stuff happened, but to sum up the ball didn't get into the orc half.

Overall, I was quite happy with only conceding one and getting away with no long term casualties - although my storm vermin got apothecaried from a -ST to badly hurt, which was very lucky, because a ruined storm vermin would have probably ruined the team this early on.

After some connection issues forced us to restart our game, Da Zoggin' Gitz opened the game by murdering Bardida the Dancer with a chainsaw and swiftly followed up by knocking over a pair of players with a bomb. Wyld then attempted to throw his ball carrier down the pitch, but the throw failed (loner) and the ball carrier got stunned leaving the ball loose. After a brief scrum, Tesipyle the Dancer managed to pick up the ball but not before Choppem Hackenstab chainsawed two more Amazons. Thankfully there were no more bombings as we managed to knock the Bombadier down and it stayed down. For a bit. Both Ogres rolled really stupid so SuchDodge decided to run the ball into their corner and wasted a few turns at the safety of the touchline before scoring.

The second half opened with significantly less Amazon players on the field (only eight, with a starting team on twelve), but that didn't stop them attack the secret weapon wielding goblins with gusto. Choppem Hackenstab got KO'd, but the Amazons going after Lobban Blowemup got waylaid. Thankfully, Lobban managed to bomb himself a few turns later. With the worst of the secret weapons disabled (albeit only temporarily) the Amazon throwers decided to run the ball up the right side of the pitch. Unfortunately Swingan Spinnybash managed to move forward and knock down the Amazon catcher who was set up to receive the ball, so the throwers split up and gave the ball to an Amazon blizter who intended to run the ball to a touch down in the last remaining turns. Due to an error by the coach, there was no way the blizter would make it without getting crumped by the gobbos. Luckily, the downed catcher managed to get up and run into the touch zone to receive a short pass for the second touchdown.

Thanks for fun the game Wyld, well played!

Was nice to get the boys started with a win.

Overall we both had good dice for the whole game, La just got bad dice at crucial times.

The TD was straight forward orc play, bashing stuff out the way and taking a casual stroll over the line. I was happy to sit and defend the lead for the rest of the match, happily leaving the ball on the floor and punching and stomping mice and crack fiend gobbos instead. La had a very good attempt at freeing the ball up by forcing my Black Orc to try and pick the ball up, and predictibly seeing it bounce away to a free square. I still managed to sack the carrier again though, so was comfortable in the end, even managed to chuck the ball about a bit too, although it did make me feel like a dirty elf.

More kills would've been nice, but I was happy with a win, a clean sheet and solid defending. Good games :)

And finally, we have the game that took forever to play - Idan's Elves vs. my Ogres!

It kicked off with a horrific run of rolls from me - injured snotlings, my mercenary bombardier blew himself up and general incompetence abounded. I knew Ogres would be tough/frustrating but this seemed too much. The Elves scored in turn 2 I think.

Next drive however, things improved a bit. The elves ran around a bit and positioned people for a future pass, but this meant there was a thinner line of elves for the ogres to push through, protecting a snotling with the ball, which they duely did. Also, 3 snotlings ganged up to get a 1 dice block on an elf, and injured her!!! Epic stuff from the ST1 guys. I think it was during this drive that I rolled an epic number of 5's (on 2D6) for armour rolls on my snotlings (they fail on 6+). Idan started to really hate those irrepressible 20,000 cost guys. Anyway I fell over the line on turn 6 to make it 1-1.

Idan had 2 turns to score before the half ended. He had 3 people downfield to recieve. My ogre did a 2xGFI to blitz the ball carrier. However on turn 8 Idan still managed to pick it up and get it to a guy who could run it in. Before running it in though he decided to beat up another snotling - and rolled a double both down!  ;D So at the end of the first half it remained 1-1.

Second half started with the elves in possession. I can't remember some of the details but I think a pass failed in the region of my far right corner. A snotling picked it up, tried to pass it but fumbled it - but it was picked up (on a re-roll) by my ogre! However it was just the two of them back there, the elves quickly closed in. I had one turn to try and remedy the situation somewhat - but my first move was a blitzing ogre, who failed with his block (or a GFI - can't remember). This meant it was 6 elves vs 1 orge & a snotling... the elves duely got the ball and scored. 2-1 to the Elves.

Idan kicked off but it went out of bounds. I gave the ball to my ogre on the front line. With about 5 turns to score I hoped I could roll over the line. However, Idan engaged lame defensive tactics (boo hiss!!!  ;)) and I was only able to trundle forward 2 turns a square. He made no effort to get the ball - simply to stall me and bash the odd rogue snotling. It came to my penultimate turn and I realised I needed to advance 3 squares to have a chance of a last turn score. This meant I needed to pull off a 5+ dodge, which I managed  ;D

On the last turn I had 4 ogres standing and 2 snotlings lying down. I needed a successful block followed by 2 dodges and 2 GFI's to score (odds on those 4 rolls are 7.7%). The block succeeded but the first dodge failed. Oh well!

I was quite pleased to only lose 2-1, and to get within reach of a draw too. I suffered 3 injured snotlings - two will be back the next game, the other misses the next one with a smashed collar bone. Normally this is cause for retirement, but not this time as strength 1 is the minimum strength value so the smashed collar bone has no effect.  ;D Thankfully also MVP went to one of my ogres, and obviously you want to skill up your ogres rather than snotlings as they are a lot less prone to dying...

Hello there in the glorious land of Wales!

Yes there will be matches tonight. No idea who will turn up though. Don't base your plans around us; it's a relaxed league and we can make up missed fixtures later. There's only two things we don't like...
- Saying you'll turn up and then not (or at least logging on/posting to say you can't play after all), and
- Consistently poor attendance leading to a big backlog.

Sorry again chaps... I've been decorating and can't currently get to a PC :)

I won't be playing tonight so I'll mark my match day 2 game as being against nj and we'll catch up on an off week.

Hopefully you can all find a game tonight against someone you haven't played and have fun. Submit to bbm and remember to mark these games as match day 2.

Normal service will be resumed next week I really promise!

Thanks for the heads up Gandalf :) In that case I won't be on this evening; means I can drive home at a sensible hour.

Have some good games, I look forward to the match reports :)

I lost 2-0 to the Goblins.

Wyld destroyed an almost epic moment...
- he does 2nd half kick off short
- high ball - I catch it with a snotling just behind my front line.
- ogre throws the snotling as far as possible, he lands on his feet, runs for the line, double GFI means he's one short
- Wyld blitzs him and kocks him over. With dodge and side step, a whole lot of rolls would have got him over the line, but it was not to be.

I rolled 25 1's in 102 rolls - he rolled 6 1's in 78 rolls. Nuff said about the reasons for defeat.

I ended the game with 2 injured players.... both ogres! One of them lost a movement point. I'm not too bothered about that, I always need some ogres on the front line who do little but bash. The snotlings just got KO'ed en-masse. Donkey the Ogre leveled up and now is movement 6. I bought my snotling mercenary as he got 2SPP, and bought a 5th ogre (though due to injuries I will only have 2 in my next game). Also, one of my snotlings managed an interception followed by a successful pass  ;D
