My chaos have managed to be solid, and powerful, without being absolutely spectacular or dramatic at any point.

Which is totally Championship winning form.

If I could vote for a game I was in I’d probably agree.

Yes, well done nj :)

The Mighty Undercheesers aren’t gonna get any games they are expected to win next season now :(

If I was to pick a moment it would be my near pitch clearance of SuchDodge. Although my skeleton managing to die in the opening match against halflings is pretty notable too.

In fact there's been a lot of death on my team given that they aren't stunties.

Some good memories there! I forgot about my flying goblin on a pogo stick. ;D I've felt rather unlucky at points this season so thanks for reminding me of some more humorous moments. Throwing a snotling to his death was a laugh too, as was when a snotling intercepted a pass (I can't get my head round the physics of that).

A suggestion about the cup for next year. Apparently we're having it after the end of the league season, and there will probably be more than 8 of us. Rather than having the top 8 teams compete (which is what I'm inferring) perhaps we can make the draw at the start of the league season - so some teams will go straight into the last 8 and some will have to play a match before that. Then make the league match between those teams double-up as the qualifying game. If that's a draw then either flip a coin or use league ranking to decide who gets through to the last 8.

The general idea of the cup seems to be to give less-fancied teams a chance of winning something, so my idea seems more in spirit with that than qualifying based on league rankings.

So, I have finally come to a decision and my dwarves will be returning next season.

I would consider just sitting out the cup if 1/ doing so makes it a clean 8 teams and 2/ it doesn't take too long :)

Having said that, as unlikely as it would be, a cup probably represents my best chances of silverware with an Underworld team.

Looking forward to S4! When do we get going? Can we get any closer to a consensus on cup draw/friendlies?

Here's a summary of the teams who are signed up so far, along with their experience and tier (given by averaging two sources). It's looking like a much-more experienced and high-tier lineup than last time, with 6 returning teams and 2 new ones, and more top-tier outfits.

DaigaroOgami : Orcs (tier 1, 2nd season)
Gandalf : Wood Elves (tier 1, 2nd season)
id3nt1ty : provisonally Necromantic (tier 2, 1st season)
Idan : Elves (tier 1.5, 2nd season)
Lawastooshort : Underworld (tier 3, 2nd season)
LtSpinx : Dwarves (tier 1, 3rdseason)
Notj : Norse (tier 1, 1st season)
Raveen : Khemri (tier 2, 2nd season)

WyldKarde yet to confirm entry into the new season. MrC and Abom as possibles if we can rope them into it.

Thanks Gandalf, I think you were updating that at the exact same time I was updating the spreadsheet I've started for S4 :)

As we seem to have a good mix of new and continuing teams I'd like to go into the season without development games and see how people get on. Nj and Ident in particular will have useful insights into how new teams fare compared to developed ones.

Oh and the Dorfs are starting their third season and are the grand old longbeards of the RTBBL :)

Edit: WRT the Cup, it'll be top 8 going into the playoffs for a 3 week tournament.

Could you link me to the tier information? I'd be interested to see them.

As for start date, I'm away this weekend and I want to give the newbies a chance to sign up and get prepared so shall we say Sunday 12th October for week 1 of season 4?

I wanted to make some kind of yo momma joke about this hurtful comment, but my own research shows that Underworld are indeed in a Tier 3 all of their own: in theory better results then any more-stunty team, but worse than anything else.

We have several tiers worth of cheese though, so there.

Just wanted to see what we're up against and how the skills of my wood elves would cope. Result of this is I have some players better than others depending on who I'm playing. So, it will be interesting, trying to get the right players in the right places.

So.... what don't you like about my idea?

It seems a wee bit arbitrary with added overcomplication to be honest. If it weren't random chance that got most teams into the playoffs then it might work but I don't like random chance giving some people an easier ride than others (which is ironic for a dice game, I know :) ). At least with the simple option everyone has the same chance of qualifying and realistically the one person left out is probably going to be happy to give their team a rest for another week :)

Oh, I didn't see that start date. Yes, week next Sunday sounds awesome.

I am still not aware of any weeks I can't make - perhaps though we should have a mid-season break for catch ups if required?

I don't have any 'firm' dates I cant do yet - but I am hoping to finish buying my new house next Friday (eek); and then I'll be moving and setting up new internet, etc... so I envisage that there may be a few dates I wont be able to do - will update you guys when I know.

If Orcs play Undercheesers early in the season then we could avoid delay but you bringing your laptop to my house after work one day. Via the pub.

Rav, any chance of fixing this fixture for the greater good?

Don’t know how much of a greater good it would actually be, but could avoid a week’s delay somewhere along the line.

I get the "it's simpler" angle but to say "everyone has the same chance of qualifying" is manifestly untrue if you go with "top 8 in the league qualify", that's precisely the problem my suggestion tries to get around. I don't understand what's arbitrary about having some teams have to qualify and some not to, this happens in plenty of competitions in real life (eg football league trophy). A possible tweak to my suggestion - new teams are the ones that have to qualify, and more experienced ones go straight through (which would vaguely mimic, say, the FA cup).

Or you go completely random and say a random 8 teams qualify but then that doesn't seem fair either.

I@m amused you even bothered saying "I don't like random chance giving some people an easier ride than others" when you realise how silly that sounds :p

How are cup draws dealt with in game? Are they random or can you specify?
