Sorry to hear that notj. You can always pencil it in for the catch-up week.

Will you be able to play as normal this Sunday? Or is it too early to answer that?

Should be fine Sunday, it's a pretty well understood part of home schedule, Lu is rested after weekend with me around, and we deliberately get the kids in bed early for monday morning.

Mid week is sometimes a bit more fragile as Lu is much more tired.

No worries nj. Circumstances were conspiring against me too so it's best to knock it on the head.

Welcome folks! I'm Rickard Cheesmuller and I'm here to take a look ahead at the next games in the Rolling Thunder Blood Bowl League!

It's block around the clock as Stagocalypse take on The Brewers Brawlers.

Slow meets Slower as The Pinewood Carrions play Eballa.

They'll be doing the quickstep when Fables go up against The Mighty Undercheesers.

Bring out yer dead! What's left of The Orkly Ducklingz are playing The Cangurus.

Skill versus Skeletons? That'll be The Everglade Wanderers versus The Tomb Army

Sorry for the late heads up, but I got a date on Sunday...

Daigaro, I can play from Tuesday on, if you want to play a midweek game.

Afternoon all! I'm in the house and the PC (and internet) is working a treat. Only problem is my parents are coming round tomorrow afternoon to gawp at the gaff and eat some food. I hope to be done and dusted and online for the planned time but I may be a bit late - I'll keep you updated.

Message received & understood. :) Glad the move has gone OK & the internet is working - a key landmark in any house move!

OK. As you're now 2 games behind you'll need to fit an extra game in sometime, besides the catch-up week. I can do any weekend this week apart from Friday?

Maybe I could play Diagro tonight, if he is around & wants to?

This is roughly what happened:

The Necromantic received in the first half, smashing most of the Cheesers down and slowly making their way down to the Underworld back right - eventually the swarming goblin pressured the ghoul ballcarrier into a Turn 6 touchdown. The Undercheesers had two turns left to equalise, but bad positioning led to that kind of petering out.

Second half the Undercheesers received, advanced a bit - I wanted to score quick to have a chance of a win, but Identity defended very well throughout. Eventually a goblin made a break down the right, but something went wrong and then suddenly an AG4 werewolf was all smacking the poor defenceless goblin in the face and stealing his ball. His friend, Nigel the Cheesegoblin, didn't like this, and ran six squares to knock the damn wolf out. Then something else happened, a ghoul fell off the pitch a bit, a wizard lightning bolted David Bowie in the head, and eventually it was Turn 16 with a wall of zombies and other dead things between Nigel and a square away from the endzone. So he dodged a bit and made it 1-1. Then a Flesh Golem passed the ball successfully.

I have to say I didn't play well, but that shouldn't take anything away from Identity - he did play well and was unlucky to only get a draw out of this, I think.

The Stags beat the Brewers Brawlers 2-0. In a hard match for both sides.

I get 500000 inducements. Spunk it on a Halfling Master-Chef, a wizard and a Bloodweiser babes

First Half
I choose to receive. Masterchef doesn't work.
- High kick is caught by my Stag (The passer) I knock over a few dwarves and try to push through the dwarven lines.
- Dwarfs respond by knocking over some defenders and trying to run a player next to the ball carrier. Unfortunately he fails the GFI.
- The Norse respond by knocking a player off the field causing his apparent death - but the apoth performed a miracle turning it into Broken ribs
- Norse try a pass up the open right hand side so they can start making progress. It fails, and the ball scatters next to two dwarfs.
- A bunch of fighting happens over the ball and it slowly travels along the line of scrimmage from the right to the left of the field.
- During the fighting one of The dwarfs gets killed (failing a dodge roll), and one of the Stag Linemen gets killed (Lineman are cheap and he had no XP so I didn't bother with the apothecary)
- Eventually (and fairly luckily) A norse runner gets free with the ball, he runs off down the field.
- The Runner finishes off and score on turn 6
1-0 to the Norse
- Norse kick off - Dwarfs receive, and immediately injure the Norse Werewolf! Not much else happens this half

Second Half
- Mastercchef steals 1 reroll. Brilliant coaching means the dwarf get it back.
- Dwarfs push some Norse around then fail to pick up the ball (with sure hands)
- Some Norse can run through and try to get a runner next to the ball, unfortunatley it involves 2 GFI, he passes the first with a reroll and fails the second leaving him KO'd)
- The Dwarfs pick up the ball and try to pass to the middle, unfortunately the catch is failed.
- It's groundhog day, as a lot of fighting happens over the ball. Norse try a pass or two and eventually the same Norse runner breaks free. running down the pitch.
- One dwarf can get to him, he makes 3 dodge rolls and 2 GFIs to get a single die block on the ball carrier, and rolls Attacker Down!
- The runner runs it in to score on Turn 14
2-0 To the Norse with 2 turns remaining.
- There is a riot at the restart wasting another turn. Dwarfs try a pass, and fail it. Norse pick up the ball and try to make a short pass (for SPPs) and fail that too.

Notes
A close game where either side could win. I had a fair bit of blocking luck (later in the game especially) and got away with quite a few Single Dice blocks. Whilst spinx rolled a few bad dice at crucial moments. Could have truly easily gone the other way
Tactically it was fairly close
My passing remains shocking. The number of failed passes by this norse team is now in double figures, without succeeding once.

Dice
According to BBM Spinks had poor (but not absolutely shocking) luck with the D6 14 out of 61 being a 1
I had fairly average D6, it just never happened on the 4 passes I attempted in the game
2D6 was fairly Even
I think I had a small advantage in Block dice too according to BBM, but generally it's the time these things happen that makes the difference

Team Development News
Dwarfs lost a Troll slayer and are missing a player from the next round
Norse lost a lineman and the werewolf is missing from the next round. Replaced the dead player by buying a second werewolf.
I now have a runner with catch, so maybe we will see some luck in the passing now.

edit : fixed "dwarf runner" got the ball -> 1-0 to Norse

That's a pretty good summary. I'd say you didn't play your best, but you certainly made me sweat. It was a fun game too, and there could have been an extra touchdown each if certain things had gone right on the night. I was very surprised with Wilhelm Grimm picked up the ball (5+) and even more surprised when he successfully passed it (5+). Quite deservedly he got the Fables MVP and leveled up!

Tuesday lunchtime and we're still missing 2 match reports! The 2 that are there are good though. :) Games turning on key moments.

Also can someone poke temmop if he didn't read my last message?

I have a bit of a sniffle and I'm blaming Eballa coach, Wyld Karde...

Either way, we started with the Carrions kicking and setting up for a deep defence. The ball went high and was caught by a rotter. The Warriors and Beast on the line made short work of the Skeletons on the line and Eballa ran a Pestigor through the middle.

The Nurgle team formed a cage in the middle of the pitch and set to roll forward with a passing threat available. They stalled once the Tomb Guardians came into play though. Some tricky chain pushes popped the ball carrier out of the back of the cage and both Blitz-Ras were ready and able to take him on in a pincer manoeuvre. Both Blitz-Ras ran around the cage and caught the ball carrier between them The ball came free and players from both teams were in range to grab a hold of it. A couple of turns of scrumming ended in Eballa being pushed off the ball and the Carrions picking it up at the second attempt. Doctor Poo tried to slither around but failed the dodge and ended up with a armour breaking concussion. Once the ball was secured we were home free to stall for a touchdown at the end of the first half.

The second half started with a wild kick that ended up in the stands. Papa Nurgle, a season ticket holder with Eballa, mistook it for a misshapen hot-dog and ate it whole. A new ball was found and handed to Tomb Guardian Hittie Jaques. She wasn't sure what to do with it but the team bundled round here and pointed which way to run.

In the mean time the team started smacking Eballa about. The cage was formed at mid pitch towards my left flank and I was happy to sit for a turn or two whilst the path was cleared. The two players blocking forward motion were removed and Hittie stumbled up the pitch towards her first, and likely last, touchdown. With the ball safely out of the way the rest of the team started smacking the Nurgle boys about again. The Warriors were bottled up and the rest of Eballa were stomped on if they looked like moving. On the final turn Hittie was nudged back into action and scored the Carrions second touchdown.

The dice weren't terrible on either side (although I'd be interested in Gandalf's analysis). I managed to roll 25 D6s of which 17 were Foul Appearance rolls for blocking the horrible Nurgle players. That leaves 8 other rolls. 4 were GFIs (2 of which failed :( ) and the other 4 were skill uses. 1 pickup (the other pickup was automatic because of a touchback), 1 dodge because I clicked wrong and got away with a dodging TG and I don't recall the other 2.

Lack of block made a lot of trouble for Eballa in one of the few games where their raw strength couldn't carry them through. It burned a lot of rerolls, as did Foul Appearance which lost me a reroll and we both ended up without rerolls at the end of the first half making it a bit of a comedy of blocking errors. The second half started 9 vs 11 and the man difference had a huge impact. It was a lot easier to just roll past the tougher players and once past I could divert back to squeeze them and hit them when possible. I was able to foul a bit too which injured a rotter.

It was a fun game and I think the Khemri are coming together now. The TD on Hittie and MVP on my other skilless TG means I have MB all round. Piling on was top on the Blitz-Ra getting me two extra depitches this match. Bring on the next match!
