If you want a good team at high TV then look at starting stats, not skills.

Hello!! :) I think what skills they have access to as standard is important too. I think, for more experiences teams with cash to spare, it can be worth firing players after their 2nd or 3rd upgrade, if they only roll normal skills and those skills are limited (eg Tomb Guardians, Ogres).

I have moderate hopes for my ogre team ("high hopes" would overstate it), as they have rolled quite a few non-standard level up rolls (block and +AG for example). My wood elves have rolled very few non-standard upgrades, but that's OK because they have access to general & agility rolls as standard, and they have the vast majority of skills you'd want. In all the many upgrades, I have rolled three non-standard upgrades, one of which I even turned down (what would an elf lineman do with +AV or +MV I ask you).

And that, if you have a team of cheaters it's a perfectly viable tactic to stomp the moss out of 'em?

I think this is a generally accepted option!

Compare Dwarves to Chaos (similar games styles, reverse fortunes)

Dwarves start out with everything you need, lots of block, all positionals, average to poor stats. As the get skill ups they run out of best value skills early (guard, MB and after that...) and their stats are likely to vary very little.

Chaos start with better stats but not skills beyond horns. So each skillup is worth a lot and the additional access to Mutation skills means that they can follow an optimal path for longer.

If you want a good team at high TV then look at starting stats, not skills.

Plus, my crazyness wasn't working to it's full potential. Incidentally, on an unrelated note, your barrels of fine 200 year old Dwarven whisky will be arriving soon Rav. Padded with bank notes and ballasted with gold, just the way you like it.

I'll have a fiver on that please Mr Gandalf.

Daigaro may have lost 400k of TV, but at least he won £50...

Anyway! My lunchtime predictions for next weekend.

Norse v Dwarfs
I reckon the Norse will win this 2-1 whilst taking a couple of casualties.
(Over quarter of a million BBM games say Dwarves should win but not comfortably)

Carrions v Eballa
This could be the stodgiest game of the season (and I’m counting orcs v undead). I’d have said 1-1 but Nurgle might well have an induced wizard which might blast apart the Khemri cage. Let’s say 1-1 anyway. I’d put Carrions as a winner if I had to pick one though.
(Stats say Nurgle have the slight advantage)

Fables v Cheesers
Whilst Identity was choosing his team for the season we had a couple of practices of this matchup, but he’s clearly got more used to his team since then. I’ll guess at 2-1 to the Cheesers but think either of us could score one more or less than that.
(Stats say Necromantic are massively odds on to win)

Orcs v Pro Elves
Well, the Elves are going to score, and the strongest player on the orc team is going to fall over and break his spine at the slightest contact, so I’m going to go for a 3-1 Elf win.
(Stats give Elves a moderate advantage)

Wood Elves v Undead
Well, the Elves are going to score, and the coach isn’t experienced enough to know how to stop them, so I’m going to go for a 4-0 Elf win. A good result for the undead would be scoring their first TD of their pro existence, or even managing to select all their inducements in time.
(Stats say Undead have a slight advantage)

PirlOrc, Percy & Leroy don't have time for poetry this week; they're all off on intense recruitment missions, so I'll have to make predictions on my own for once...

Stags Vs Shorties - Will be a fantastic game I reckons. The dwarves will be on a mega high from utterly destroying the Auld Enemy last week, and the Stags will be drunk. 2-2 draw.

Carrion's Vs Eballa - This could be slow & squishy. 1-1 draw with each team scoring in the final turn of each half.

Fables Vs Cheesers - The 'Cheesers ARE NOT the underdogs (Underdongs?) they'd like you to think they are; I'm championing Fables to cause an upset, keeps the league open then, but I see the 'Cheesers grabbing a 2-1 win and the Shoulderdong frustrating yet another poor soul.

Da LAdz Vs Cangurus - I hope for a repeat of last season's match (because it was spiffing fun), but not the result. Let's be optimistic - 2-1 to the Ladz.

Tree Lickers Vs Undead - It's pretty difficult to predict anything other than an Elf win...

I've had the most experience most experience with the Shoulderdong, so hopefully it'll just be some poor zombie getting a good fondling!

After the debacle of my comments last week on this thread, I'm going to not make myself look like a fool this week and keep my predictions broad.

At least 1 touchdown will be scored.
A player will block another player.
All teams will win, lose, draw or have their match postponed.

I need to distract myself a bit so here goes for some Week 6 predictions. I might edit in the stats-based predictions later too.

Most teams are passing the halfway mark now!

Ducklingz vs Wanderers - I'm going to go for 1-3. The Ducklingz are kind of rebuilding and languishing in lower-mid-table obscurity; the Elves are league favourites.

Fables vs Cangurus - I think this will be the match of the round. I can't see the Elves scoring less than 2, so I'm going to go for 2-2: the Necromantic are in good shape.

Carrions vs Brawlers - Rav won the battle of the stodge last weekend, and I see nothing to suggest he won't again. He might lose a player though. 2-1.

Stagocalypse vs Undercheesers - The two flimsiest teams in the league, armour-wise? Could be Fun. I don't actually know anything about Norse, but thought they were full of AV7 and Block, until nj posted about a werewolf in his match report. I'm going to go for 2-1.

Eballa vs Tomb Army - Could this be a third battle of the stodge? Probably. Could be 1-0. A win for Temmop would catapult him up the league though. Having said that, one point from the first three games of his bloodbowl career isn't that bad. If I was made to play 3 games of cricket, I'd probably only score one point.

Ducklingz vs Wanderers - I've got to favour the Orcs for this one. A healthy set of inducements and a few lucky injury rolls could make life very hard for Gandalf. I'm going to say 2-1 to the Ducklingz (but 3-1 to the Elves is the next most likely option :) )

Fables vs Cangurus - Fables need to get stuck in during the first drive. If they can break armour they'll be well placed to pick up a solid win. 2-1 to Fables

Carrions vs Lawn Ornaments - The Carrions seem to be quite good at turning over slow, solid, caging teams. So I'm going to call 2-0 to the Carrions. Saying that Spinx is totally my bogey coach so it'll probably be 3-0 to the shortarses.

Stagocalypse vs Undercheesers - My pick for the match of the week. It's all going to be about position this one. I'm not expecting high casualty rates, unless either coach gets lucky early, but this should be a tactical masterpiece. I'm calling 2-1 for the Undercheesers but it's a close one.

Eballa vs Tomb Army - Eballa have a couple of key players injured and a couple more carrying stat breaks. Add to that the strength of the mummies and I think we might see The Tomb Army score a win for the first time. 1-0 to the Undead.
