Grabbed the free skins at least. Not sure when I'll have time to play the training missions, or if my wife's laptop will handle them!

Brilliant Raveen. Don't sweat too much even about jumping in at launch. 16th of Dec is basically an arbiraty launch date. They will keep polishing and adding stuff. The 1.0 will be a rough, early version on many features. Mining, for instance is very bare bones for now.

Exploration is serene and beautiful though, and combat is awesome.

Laptop didn't seem inclined to play the training missions. Will see if it can be given a kick up the posterior at some point.

Hmpf... Would you give me the specs of the machine please?

You should also contact support, I think.

I'm trying the life Imperial' before the last wipe. i'm hunting bounties and mapping uncharted systems at the edges of Imperial space. Fighting is as much fun as my best memories of Allegiance, and I'm just tangling with NPCs. As a KS backer I had the option to start in Imp space with a hopped up Eagle fighter. Heaps of fun on the lawless frontier, but I'm gonna go fed after the 16th.

I heartily recommend getting the pre-order. A few weeks left :)

I'm not sure if it's the machine being below spec, which it is, or just being its normal temperamental self.

A reboot may get things moving again.

Still not working, I've submitted the crash report.

Specs - HP Pavilion dv6

Core i5 M430
3GB RAM
Radeon HD 5000 with 512K GRAM <- I'm guessing this is the problem

It is indeed possible that the half-gig graphics card is a problem.

Got it working on the media PC at least. Next question, how do I get the game to recognise my Xbox controller? I looked in the options menu but there was no sign of it

I never tried with a controller, but people definitely fly with them. You may have to do a search on the forum Rav.

Life has been busy, but I'm playing Elite with Spyball, Dorjan, Myotis and my brother in law. Good fun already, even though it's at a very raw state with the 1.03 release build.

Bounty hunting is great fun. I just purchased a nice Viper with a few bits and bobs (2 class 1 pulse lasers that came with it, picked up two class 2 multicannons to go along with them). But I've got to use my Adder to get some stuff for my Imperial rep. They want me to get Combat Stabilizers... which are illegal practically everywhere. However, after a little digging, I found there IS a system that they're legal to buy in.

Let's see if I can get there and back without getting giant fines.

OK, with new PC up and running I have been playing the training missions again. They are enormously easier with a joystick when compared to a pad. I pretty much walked through the training and I'll not be scared of combat in the game.

Sadly I can't get my strategic commander to work yet but I'm liking the throttle on my stick matched with side thrust on the base buttons.

What controls should I have at my fingertips and what can live on the keyboard?
