Re: Season 4 - Week 8 - 7th December 2014
In a game marred by mostly equal dice of both the 1 and 2 d6 varieties, the Undercheesers kept up their unlikely assault on the top 3 with a stolid 1-0 victory over the stinking Nurgles.
In the first half, the Nurgle cage advanced and, seeing an opening, threw a perfect catch which... a rotter or something Nurglish dropped. The ball made its swift way up the pitch, where after a bit of a fight Jimi Hendrix or Jim Morrison burst through and then stood about for a turn or two before scoring.
The Nurgles didn't have time to equalise.
In the second half, the Underworld grabbed the high but deep kick and made their way to the far right, where Jimi Hendrix eventually burst through - only to be smashed down by a repulsively dodging Pestigor. The ballcarrier was a square away from the sideline and the ball bounced out - wanged back in by the crowd to the middle of the pitch! Next to Dr Poo! Bother, thought the Undercheesers. The ball was surrounded by goblins and such, but an extra arms rotter picked it up, some smashing move the goblins out the way, and the rotter threw it down the pitch. Did the receiver drop it? I think. Then next turn Bob Dylan smashed the receiver in the face a bit, I forgot to pass it downfield to score, but luckily had the ball fairly well covered. The last two turns petered out and there it was, 1-0.
A Chaos Warrior died, and so did Major Tom the Goblin.
Good game Wyld - particularly nice blitz on the poor ball carrier...

Re: Season 4 - Week 8 - 7th December 2014
Rav chose to receive, but the Elves managed to blitz the ball, then pass it the other side of the pitch, where the slow Khemri couldn't quite reach it, and the 1st half finished 1-0 to the Elves.
With 4 players KO'd (of which none came back), 1 injury, and 4 elves getting hit by fans in a pitch invasion, I started the 2nd half with 3 elves standing against 11 Khemri... Luckily Rav tried to pile on a catcher who had fend, which caused his blitz-ra to fail a GFI. So The elves managed to do a 2 turn touchdown with 3 players.
A few KO's later and a lot of running away, the Khemri scored a TD on turn 14, and failed to score a 2nd touchdown.
Re: Season 4 - Week 8 - 7th December 2014
Comfortable victory for the elves.
Luck deserted me in the 1st half, leaving me 3-0 down. and the second Half I pretty much spent arsing around as I knew the game was lost.
Injured treeman though with a foul - which amused me somewhat
Notes on dice
From 41 D6rolls I rolled 18 1s or 2s and only 2 6s
from 72 block dice I rolled 9 Defender downs (versus a team full of block and dodge)
Gandalf got through the Norse armour 8 times causing 3 injuries. (I got through Elf armour 10 times causing 2)
6 attempts at stealing rerolls with my halfling master chef (4+) had 1 success.
From my first 7 attempts to Go for it. I failed 4 times.
On the D6 according to BBM - gandalf had +9.71 luck and I had -10.24
Just a shocker with the dice, versus a highly skilled team with a good coach.
Doooommmmeeeddd :-)

Re: Season 4 - Week 8 - 7th December 2014
The Norse got about -10 chance on the D6, and I got about +10. A gap of 20 is pretty brutal and *very* difficult to win with, especially against a team worth more. I was expecting to have marginally the better of the block fights due to my team having skills galore, but I did get the better of the dice there too.
The first three chances I had to score all resulted in touchdowns, which pretty much ended the match as a contest. Earlier in the season I've played games when I've had more chances than that and not scored any. C'est la vie.
Oh, and his second half master chef, which stole 0, was followed by a kick-off roll which took the mickey - I got an extra re-roll!!!
It was fun at the start - Norse had half a chance to score, but failed and then I scored instead. I also enjoyed the one-dice chain blitz which surfed the ball carrier (which directly led to one of my first two TD's), and also when my frenzy elf and The Elf Who Lived teamed up to do some surfing. I also did some stupid things in the first 4 turns, (like forgetting my elf had frenzy) but got away with them.
My treeman got -1AG after being fouled. But since he already has AG1, no effect. The infamous Everglade injury dice come up good again. Also Ernie got promoted to level 5, and got +1 agility! Yes that's right, after some 40-50 level-ups, I finally rolled an 11 or 12.
I'm amused the stats say I had 18% possession....
Comments on other games...
Nurgle - seem to have terrible luck with injuries this season. I feel bad for them, to top it all they roll a 1 for winnings.
Elves-Khmeri, given the beating the Khemri dished out I am glad I am playing them last and won't have to worry about injured players!
Other two games sounded fun on mumble too.
Edit : I think I found a new bug - for most of the first half I had 12 players to choose from, but I couldn't seem to sub off my new un-skilled lineman for anyone. I could bring my sub on for someone else, but couldn't budge the new guy. Not that it mattered much, it was pretty weird though.

Re: Season 4 - Week 8 - 7th December 2014
Was fairly even for two turns, and Gandalf used both his rerolls so I wasn't feeling too bad.
And then in a move that would set the pattern for the rest of the game, I failed a standard pass with the Thrower (with reroll's to spare to catch it), then Gandalf made what was actually a more unlikely move (getting the ball, dodging out, passing it (with no pass skill), and a GFI to score)
The only mistake I made that I saw in the first half was leaving my Ball carrier open to be crowd surfed (on a single die block), the rest was just poor luck and good play on Gandalf's part (well played).
Oh well thats two games where the dice have failed me. Onto the next....

Re: Season 4 - Week 8 - 7th December 2014
I completely forgot to post last night, so here you are. Sorry for the delay!

The Fables started by choosing to receive, but unsure what to expect they only gathered the ball up in their first turn. Daigaro didn't waste any time and started smashing my zombies on the LOS, killing one with his first block. Thankfully it got up and strolled off the pitch. With Black Orcs marching down both flanks aiming for Bufkin, the Fables newly signed Ghoul ball carrier, the Grimm Brothers lurched into action. Bufkin moved to the slightly safer left flank whilst his team mates tried to tied up the Ducklingz. Daigaro killed another zombie, and KO'd a Wight but both manged to regenerate. Worried that Daigaro was going to leave me with more players standing on the sidelines watching than playing, I made a push through the left flank and got within a few squares of his end zone. Daigaro had managed to tie up my other players well, so Bufkin was undefended and a quick two dice block saw the ball go free. The Fables made a dash for the ball again, but The Fairy Godmother tripped herself up and got KO'd. The rest of the Fables were tied up in tackle zones on stunned, so Daigaro decided to try a bit of elf ball and pass down the pitch. The receiving Orc failed to catch the pass, but it was easily picked up by another. The Ducklingz then made an unmolested dash for my end zone to score in turn 8.
The second half opened with a deep kick by the Fables, which the Ducklingz safely collected and proceeded to cage around. Beast Frenzied a Blitzer off the pitch and started making threatening moves towards the ball carrier whilst Bigby loped down the other flank. Daigaro took full advantage of the overly exposed werewolf and KO'd him. Beast got a bit worried, turned tail and hid behind a Flesh Golem. I think the other Flesh Golem had managed to KO a Black Orc, so the Ducklingz played it safe well in their own half. With the clock ticking, Beast bared his teeth and the Fables started another attack. The Ducklingz made a move for the right flank, so the Fables managed to stun Percy the Troll and put tackle zones around the cage. The Wights filled the gaps, and one of the Grimm brothers knocked a corner off, before Beast made a Frenzied attack on the ball carrier, who managed to dump the ball off to his team mate. The team mate failed to catch, but the ball scattered the wrong way. The only chance for the Fables to score now was for the Grimm brother to dodge away from his mark, pick up the ball and pass to a Wight who could run for the touch zone. Predictably, the Flesh Golem failed the dodge and the game ended 1 - 0 to Daigaro.
Daigaro played well and out maneuvered me more often than not. He certainly earned the win, but it could have been a more exciting match if I'd been a bit more ambitious. I'm kicking myself for not going after the ball harder.
The dice were pretty fair.
