Re: Season 5 Prediction Thread
Week One:
The Brewers Brawlers 1-2 Fables!
I think this will be a litmus test for the fables – have they overcome last season’s underperformance to become contenders? Or not? The dwarves have a very good chance if the dice fall right though.
Astrogranite Apocalypse 1-1 The Pinewood Carrions
One for the purists? Having said that I haven’t seen the Chaos team and imagine they have an AG4 Extra Arms ball handler and a great deal of unpleasantness. And the Khemri will probably get a wizard.
Saur'd of Justice 2-1 The Cheeseosophers
I don’t think the novelty of playing against Vampires will be enough to put off the lizardmen coach here. The Vampires have very little in the way of basic skills, and their main strength without skills, their strength, will be easily countered by the lizards’ strength. Also, skinks are pesky little gits and the Cheeselovers have 1 Block player and none with Tackle.
Team Shrek 1-1 The Sons of the Silver Sword
I’d back the Elves to score in their debut competitive match, but also to concede. Beyond that who knows – let’s hope for violence!
The Season:
The Pinewood Carrions – Top top coach Rav admits his team are at the sweet spot. They’re well developed and Rav’s had two seasons to get used to them. Likely to be crowd favourites with their violence-related skills.
Saur'd of Justice – I think NJ mentioned not quite getting the hang of the lizards last time, otherwise I’d probably put them up with the Carrions. Lizardmen are a hard combination to play against though, with their strength and speed – will they have the skills to take advantage?
Fables! – In their second season (?), the team should be fiercely competitive now, and arguably should have done better last season. They should at least be in the Champions league spots. Now with two developing werewolves, which the coach has had time to get used to using to their best.
The Brewers Brawlers – With 3 new teams and less agility sides to take advantage of any dropped throws, is this the season the dwarven running game reaches maturity? It could be spectacular, and I expect a top half of the table finish.
Astrogranite Apocalypse – If the AAs quickly maximise their violent potential then I reckon we’ll see them battling in the top 3, but I’ve not seen the coach/team combination before, so I’m going to be conservative. Dark horse league favourites and a team no one is going to be happy to have to play, much like the Khemri.
Team Shrek – Nothing really to separate the bottom four. Ogres are ogres (and snotlings), but with a bit of development already under their belt they’re likely to surprise more than one opponent, and probably maim far more than that.
Percy’s Persistent Plan – And similarly the goblins are going to foul and murder, but will probably be harder than one imagines to break down. Will their penchant for daft weapons and dafter teammate flinging be their undoing or their… opposite of undoing?
The Sons of the Silver Sword – Well, being Elves they shouldn’t have too many problems scoring – once the coach gets to grip with the team and the game. Hard to say which way it’ll go though, and it seems reasonable to predict bottom four for a new coach. No offence.
The Cheeseosophers – Well I’ve put myself bottom out of politeness, but I’m aiming for mid-table. The Vampires have the potential to eventually be excellent, but they have very limited skills to start with and 2 minutes is not quite enough per turn to consider how to counter their desire to eat their teammates.

Week One:
The Brewers Brawlers 0-2 Fables!
I think that Claw will pay dividends in this match. If the doggies can mince their way through the lawn ornaments and hit hard then the Necro's will have it.
Astrogranite Apocalypse 1-2 The Pinewood Carrions
Bash vs Bash. I'm banking on solid positional play to make up for my team's deficiencies.
Saur'd of Justice 1-2 The Cheeseosophers
I think that the Lizards got mauled pre-season too. I can see hypnogaze being decisive in negating the Strength deficit.
Team Shrek 1-1 The Sons of the Silver Sword
Hard to call this one. Nothing seems to go well for the Ogres but it's an experienced coach vs a total newbie. It would be unlikely for the Elves not to get at least one TD I guess.
Percy's Persistent Plan
Percy will spend the weekend picking his nose and chomping on mushrooms.

Re: Season 5 Prediction Thread
Seems like a weaker league than last year, I'm excited to see how all these new races pan out. Rav seems to be the only one expressing confidence in his team, which I suppose makes him favourite.
I have not a clue how to call my game at the weekend. I think I will set my expectations the same for every ogre game.... injure at least one opponent and score a touchdown (the latter they only manage in about half of games). I think my team will really struggle against players with block, dodge etc. so in that regard I'm pleased to be playing the elves first up.
My real predictions have tended to suck so here are some tongue-in-cheek ones.
The Brewers Brawlers 0-3 Fables!
The dwarves roll red skull after red skull and id3nt wins all the kick-off rolls! One insanely unlikely dwarven pass comes off but in trying to move 2 squares the catcher fails a GFI and falls over! (Dwarves are slow rite?) The dwarves don't care as they all get drunk anyway!
Astrogranite Apocalypse P-P The Pinewood Carrions
Saur'd of Justice 1-1 The Cheeseosophers
Notjarvis yells at his lizards for being useless in the first half as the vampires run rings around them! Fortunately there are no opponents left on the pitch for the last 4 turns as they all got eaten/ran off hungry/hit by saurses, during which a plucky skink walks over the line to rescue a draw!
Team Shrek 3-1 The Sons of the Silver Sword
The ogres score two one turn touchdowns with flying snotlings and one with an epic pass. The elves run around unable to keep up with the nimble athletic ogres but manage a consolation late on.

Astrogranite Apocalypse P-P The Pinewood Carrions
Really postponed?
If not, I'm going Carrions, just to pile the pressure on Rav... Lots of casualties please.
Suckers Vs Lizzies - 1-1 draw, hopefully lots of (self-inflicted) casualties please.
Gay&Lesbian Nursery Rhymes Vs Team-that-makes-Percy-soil-himself - 2-2 draw, PRAYING for lots of death.
Traitorous Greenskins & those big orrible things Vs Noobs - 2-2, hopefully with lots of death to Elves (obviously) and those big orrible things.
I've realised that this probably wasn't the best season to start a goblin team... Let's hope Percy's been getting the greenfingers on growin' some deadly fungus....
Re: Season 5 Prediction Thread
Season predictions (I did them after the first game last season - so i'm doing the same again)
The Pinewood Carrions – Clear favourites. Everyone should be pretty much scared of facing them, specially with fewer dainty pansy dodgy teams to score past them this time.
Astrogranite Apocalypse – Second favourites, making last weekends match hard to take. They've got the skills and talent to do well though,
Fables! - More development, a good coach, and those annoying werewolfs make them a solid bet do do decently.
The Cheeseosophers – I feel a bit lucky I faced them so early in the team's cycle (with players missing too). lawas (as we saw last season) is a very good coach, and has a good plan for using the Vamps, and built in enough rerolls to keep bloodlust in check. With a bit of luck they should be up there
The Brewers Brawlers – I favour to do a lot better than last season. Can see them easily being mid table or higher
Saur'd of Justice – Will be reasonably happy with Mid -> lower table, and a couple of skinks surviving trough the entire season.
Team Shrek – Violence. Pretty much the antithesis of the Wood Elfs of last season. One of the 3 teams everyone will be scared of meeting. AG3 ogre is the wildcard which pushes them above the standard stunty team, but are heavily dependent on making those Bonehead rolls (perhaps more so than the Vampires with their Blood Lust)
The Sons of the Silver Sword – Elfs == Scoring, but in this bash heavy league they may struggle with a new coach. But getting a draw in the first game was a good result so can see them surprising a couple.
Percy’s Persistent Plan – Wild card with mush hilarity going on. No idea where they will end up, but again the league is pretty bash heavy, so would be surprised to see them climb the table too far. Wills till be fun getting there.
Have I missed anyone?

Re: Season 5 Prediction Thread
Percy's Tips:
1-10 ON, and solid favourites, theirs to lose, etc, are the Carrions. Percy has doubled the mushroom bounty on dead Tomb Guardians.
2-1 gets you either the Feebles! Sorry, the Fables! or Astrogranite Apocalypse. However, Percy might lengthen the odds on the doggie lovers, I mean, they couldn't beat his ladz...
Then Percy reckons it'll be a free for all for the last two Champions League spots; with the Rusty Letter Opener Association and the 'Plan fighting Pointy Ear and 'Shroom for the most beds is the casualty ward Wooden Spoon.
Incidentally, Percy is offering free 12 month subscriptions to his new Mushroom Tasting Service for any Mighty Blow, Tackle, ST3 and above, AV8 and above deaths against any teams his lads have to play.
Percy really didnt think through entering the ladz into such a bash heavy new season...

Re: Season 5 Prediction Thread
Goodness I smell some MD2 predictions.
Saur'd of Justice 2-1 The Sons of the Silver Sword I can’t see the Elves not scoring, but I can’t see the lizards and NJ losing to a rookie coach. Could even be 3-1.
Team Shrek 1-1 Percy's Persistent Plan It’ll probably be a draw in TDs and in casualties, and I can’t see more than one scoring attempt per side actually working.
The Cheeseosophers 1-2 Astrogranite Apocalypse I would imagine I can get the vampires to score, but I doubt I can keep them on the pitch to defend. I can easily see Chaos walking it in unopposed in turn 16 for the winner.
The Brewers Brawlers 1-1 Fables! The dwarves are probably going to score, you’d hope the Fables are going to score, but I’m not sure about more than that.

.
You may say that, but I was incredibly lucky to come away with a win last time I faced a rookie coach. Temmop marmalised my front line and I luckily managed to score with 3 players on the field (think to get the ball out and score I had 5 consecutive rolls go my way or something silly).

But Temmop was playing Undead, who are significantly bashier than (bloody) elves.

Temmop was playing Undead, you nincompoop.
You've taken one too many chainsaws to the head.
Still, yours to lose NJ.

Guess the previous chat about notj's game was correct :p
I'm going out on a limb and predict someone other than Rav to win the title.
Saur'd of Justice
Pinewood Carrions
Fables!
Astrogranite Apocalypse
Cheesosophers
Brewer's Brawlers
