Maybe a crappy system would be good for a handful of pilots?

Crappy as in one or two stations thousands of L's from the star.

I'd say it needs to at least have something for us to do: ideally a Jovian with metallic rings as this is most likely to have a RES for bounty hunting and a faction that actually benefits from crime. Ideally there would be somewhere to dock not far from either the Jovian, or navigation beacon. Black market would be a bonus too. And an outpost for quickly getting rid of those fines without having to get blown up by a station or its law enforcement.

Which reminds me: if you accidentally get a fine for firing on the law enforcement, do you still get killed if you get scanned on the way into a station? If you have good rep, do they let you in to clear your fines? Recently I've just been heading straight to an outpost, rather than trying to sneak into a station.

I think, under a certain amount, they let you dock just fine. Not sure what that amount is, but I docked at Lave with a 400 cr bounty (fine that wasn't paid) and none of the patrol ships cared

Adept has the answer I'm sure :)

I think that you get a fine but get 24 hours to pay it off, after that you're fair game.

Fines are very different from bounties. You get fines from carrying illegal cargo and trying to dock without permission. Fines are only visible to you. After 24 hours being unpaid, a fine turns into an equal bounty. Fines can be paid only to the issuing authority - Makes paying Fed, Imp, or Alliance fines easier than independents.

Bounties are collected by the person that kills you. If you shoot someone you haven't confirmed as wanted, you get a bounty. So if you accidentally shoot someone, you get a bounty. Bounties can be paid off anywhere at 150% of their amount.

Any bounty is kill on sight if detected (unless this has changed recently). The stations won't scan you, only their security patrols will.

Out-of-jurisdiction bounties are only of interest to bounty hunters with K-scanners, not local po-pos.

If the police no longer open fire on a 400 cr bounty, that is news to me.

I don't remember if they even looked at me, let alone scanned

I think it means you got lucky, and the patrol were lax in their duties.

You don't always get scanned. More often than not I just shoot straight into a station from where ever I exited Frame Shift from. I tend to only get scanned if the patrol are in your path or you linger too long infront of the letter box.

Of course. He just didn't say anything about evading scans, and it sounded like Andon thought that maybe they let a low bounty slide. I don't think that is the case.

I've found a nice system a short distance away from Chimiri: Ltt 7488 - High tech and extraction. Rubin Vision has a number of extraction sites aroudn the same planet, so you don't have to go trekking halfway across the system for repairs or turn-ins.

I managed to find a nice one that had clippers, drop ships, anacondas, and the like dropping in fairly steadily. Made about a million in around an hour. Then spent an hour and a half making about half a million because the thing kept dropping me at +50km from the extraction sites...

Sounds good. If it's extraction sites at the rings, you can just fly at them until the FSD drops you out because you are too close - obviously it helps to be at a safe speed.
