Hi La,
did you see Rav's post above? It looks like he might not be able to make it today. If he can't get his PC back together in time, would you like to play next week's game tonight instead?

I probably can yes, might be 20.15 instead of 20.00 though. I'll try to let you know as soon as possible if I can't (wife is unwell so I have both kids to sort out before I can play, and probably her too

Ok, no worries if you can't make it. I'll be online from 20:00 and wait to see if you're available (or if Rav gets things set up after all).

Well pff. My second and third ever bloodbowl disconnections - we nearly got enough for a whole game played, we got server disconnects at turn7 and then turn 6. Will post my rearranging availability when I know it.
Re: RT BBL S5 - Week 6 - 29th Mar
Well shucks, the ogres won again! From that information you should be able to deduce the scoreline...

Pre-game
The dwarves are horribly bloated now - they even have 10 assistant managers and 10 cheerleaders - rumours abound of their dispersal. I was able to hire Morg'n'Thorg and a couple of babes. There was heavy rain which meant the ball would be even harder to pick up than usual.
First half
The dwarves received, brought the ball towards the middle of the pitch and started hitting. Ogres got up and hit back. One dwarf turn ended unexpectedly early (this may or may not have been the time he didn't notice the snotling and hence need for the dodge roll) which let me hit the ball carrier. Some hitting and bouncing balls later and Faq the Pouch (who started his career as a mercenary) picked the ball up and ran in for a TD on turn 6. He already has block but will now level up again.
Next turn the dwarves charge down Faq and kill him! The lure of a block + other skill snotling was too much so I took the unusual decision to use the apothacary who turned it into badly hurt. I hoped I wouldn't need it for an ogre. The dwarves spent turn 7 lining up for some pass/hand-off shenannigans but I tried to close them down - on turn 8 it looked like there would be a long pass attempt but this didn't happen due to some miscalculations. 1-0 to Ogres at half-time.
Second half
A good kick-off for the dwarves as the ball went far into my downfield. As I struggled to get my hands on the ball, two separate games emerged - two/three dwarves, 2 ogres and 3 snotlings near my touchdown zone trying to get the ball, and everyone else having a punch-up on the centre line. The ball changed hands many times before eventually a snotling broke free with it. Guarded by a couple of ogres he tried an audacious throw to a snotling in the opposite half - and rolled a 6! The catch was failed (despite having Catch skill) but at least the ball was up field. That snotling promptly got KO'ed and the dwarves got their hands on the ball again. I threw a snotling towards the player - aforementioned snotling landed on his feet 1 square from where he was aimed! Such competence I have never seen before. Maybe the rain makes it easier to throw snotlings. I'm a bit hazy on what happened from here on (3 or 4 turns left?) but I think I knocked the ball loose and no-one was able to secure it again before the game ended.
Post-game thoughts
6 ogres plus Morg make for a ferocious lineup. The dwarves did injure one ogre (I injured none of his though he did suffer 2 - one from a failed dodge and one from the crowd) but they were still pretty hardcore. Dauntless and guard helped make up for it though.
Considering how terrible ball-handling was, I felt it was quite a good, open game (with some good scrums too). Spinx plays on the edge which is entertaining to be part of. I think one of his turns ended when his 9th gfi failed! Who says dwarves are slow?! Saying that he had some bad luck at points - I remember him needing 2 GFI's at one point, the first one had to be re-rolled then the second one failed.
Ultimately my crucial pick-up worked when it needed to which let me get the TD, it could easily have been an entirely different scoreline if the ball handling rolls had been different (see next section).
[b]Dice{/b]
The dwarves had slightly below average with the D6 whereas the Ogres were a bit worse again. Boneheads were almost exactly average (49/60) but what really hurt us both was abysmal ball handling skills - even accounting for the rain, it was pretty bad. Catches were 0/1 and 2/10 (dwarves and ogres respectively), with pick-up balls being 3/10 and 2/10. I tried one pass which wasn't caught. Surprisingly the dwarves did not attempt a single pass - they set up for one in turn 8 but wern't able to attempt it due to some miscalculations. In the 2D6 department, dwarves were slightly above average and mine were poor (I failed to injure a single dwarf, that's 2 games in a row now with no injuries dished out). My block dice were quite stunning, I rolled an avalanche of defender stumbles meaning 70% of my blocks succeeding (yay for not playing against dodge). Spinx's block dice were close to average. Overall the KO/injury rate was quite low, thanks to all those thick skulls, and me only having 4 snotlings in my starting line-up, reducing the number of targets :p

I won't be around this Sunday I'm afraid.
No match report for me, although there was some table top Blood Bowl to be had this weekend. The Highland Harpies took on Daigaro's human team and drew 1-1.

Re: RT BBL S5 - Week 6 - 29th Mar
You're due to play me this Sunday, can we re-arrange?
I'd rather not play my match the week after either, due to Allegiance 15 anniversary game, I would like to turn up to that. I can play one of those two games on the catchup week (19th April), but I am free 2-3 other nights a week usually.

This weeks' games are (I think):
Percy's Persistent Plan vs The Pinewood Carrions
The Brewers Brawlers vs Saur'd of Justice
If any other games spontaneously break out, please do not contact local law enforcement or miliraty organisations, just retreat to the minimum safe distance and hope for the best.

Well it's been terrible all week. Was about to ring up and complain again last night but noticed on their website that they were reporting problems in my area. I'm away until Tuesday now so I guess I'll see next week if they've fixed it.
Re: RT BBL S5 - Week 6 - 29th Mar
Monday/Tuesday/Thursday are generally the best evenings for me. Except for the week after next, where it's only Monday.
Looking at the teams who aren't playing tomorrow... I could play the Cheeseosophers? It's originally scheduled for the last week, but it's unlikely to be a match with bearing on the title. If people would rather that not happen that's fine, or if it messes too much with the plan to have 4 games together on the last day then that's fine too.
Finally, is the season still going to end on time? Or are the connection problems going to mean we have to extend?

I can't play Sunday - incoming inlaw that afternoon, sorry. Possibly tonight or Saturday if you really wanted a game - it'd be somewhat favourable to you as I was hopeful I might pick up a Tackle before facing you and the goblins
Although I don't mind that.
But i guess if i can play i should play the elves first, connection permitting?

Re: RT BBL S5 - Week 6 - 29th Mar
Hi :-)
Sorry for not replying La - I was away during the week and only just got back.
Currently the elves are officially one game behind (Rav's Pinewood) and it will be two after Sunday. Rav/La will it be possible to catch either/both of these games up during the coming week? I can't do Wednesday, but should be able to do most other days... slight hesitancy here, as at some point in the next two or three weeks it is likely I will have to go away for a few days on very short notice.
I can do tonight if that's of any use?
