Actually, I thought NEXT week was the final week and this was a week off?

I might not be about... seen as it's bank holiday and all, and there's an American Hip Hop group visiting the village hall that I fancy popping along to...

We have I think 8 games left to play, thanks to the mid-season disconnection/playing Allegiance/having real lives disruptions, so it's gonna take more than a week :) I'll be here anyway and then send the Ogres off to Spain on a training camp until the cup.

So it sounds like the SoSS don't have a game tonight... Hope the concert's a good one Daigoro (do hip hop groups give "concerts", or is that just classical chappies?) I will be going out to dinner with my aunt, so may not even be around to say hi.

5 games left....

Elves vs. Goblins
Elves vs. Khmeri
Elves vs. Vampires
Necro vs. Dwarves
Necro vs. Chaos

I suggest red lion & id3nt post their availability and everyone else work around them...? Does it matter when these are played, as we aren't exactly going to have a climactic final day, given we can only have at most 2 games happening at the same time.

Crikey - Cheeseosophers move up to 2nd with lucky 3-0 Ogre-beating.

Image

Dice were mostly even, BBM showed, but it didn't feel like that, with Gandalf's bad dice (i.e. boneheads) coming in bunches at bad points.

Anyway - I thought it was off to a bad start when the Ogres' first block Badly Hurt off a thrall, but it got better, with Archimedes using his newly learnt Tackle to injure off 3 snotlings in 3 turns.

In the first half, the Ogres received, and steadily trundled down the pitch, until the ball carrier boneheaded on the LOS. This was very much the turning point. The Vampires managed to get a 1d block on him, and knocked the ball loose. Although the first vampire to pick it up fell over trying to get away, the next wasn't so daft, and the Cheesesophers strolled off to score on Turn 8.

I think the Ogres set up down on players for the second half, whereas the knocked out thralls came back (I had induced a babe) so I was 11 players to 10 (I believe). Unfortunate considering I managed to Badly Hurt off two of my own players with Blood Lusts throughout the match, but then Gandalf also had a Respectful snotling sent off. The vampires received and headed off down the right hand side, until a one square mis-positioning led to Gandalf working a nice 1d block on the ballcarrier to POW him down in the best play of the match. The ball went off the pitch and ended up in the middle of the Ogres' half - but I think all the Ogres had moved and so another vampire picked up (in the pouring rain) and the lads made their way down the centre of the pitch instead. Archimedes shortly after scored his second of the game to, in all probability, secure the win.

The Ogres set up to receive again and I think they threw a snotling (which reminds me, at one point a thrown snotling stunned itself on an ogre's head, who was also stunned, which was unfortunate but objectively amusing) who had the ball but landed next to a vampire, whose extreme campness was apparently rather off-putting, for the snotling messed up the landing, burning a reroll to do so. The vampires snatched up the ball and ran away to score a flattering third touchdown. Whilst doing so, Archimedes got his 15th SPP of the match, going straight from level 3 to level 4 in a single game!

I think surviving the Ogres without any serious casualties has secured the Vampires' fate - they will very probably be back next season (there is one match left to play though and I'm not going to tempt fate by making any pansy elf remarks - these elves wear armour and stuff). Just need to get useless bloody Albert Camusbert to actually get some SPP, and then for the coach to get over how expensive the team is considering how few skills (and useful players - 3 levelled vampires, 1 level 1 vampire, and 10-11 thralls...) it feels that they have.

edit: goodness - can you see the shame? I did NINE blocks ALL game.

I am happy to play mid-week if it can be arranged. With a bit of notice I can probably play most days this week at 20.15.

Minor additions....

Before you picked it up the second time, my snotling picked it up and was about to be thrown downfield but I ran out of time - thereby robbing us of a classic Ogrey turn and replacing it with a very Gandalfy turn instead :p At least we did have a classic ogrey moment later with a thrown snotling knocking an Ogre over as you mentioned

The vampires received and headed off down the right hand side, until a one square mis-positioning led to Gandalf working a nice 1d block on the ballcarrier to POW him down in the best play of the match. I had one or two players left to move but all I could do was attempt an AG2 pickup in the pouring rain... he failed then you zapped him with lightening for good measure (poor guy, talk about adding insult to injury!)

edit: goodness - can you see the shame? I did NINE blocks ALL game.

So much shame!! Many of those were skilled players against unskilled (or snotlings) which increased your odds of success - eg Archimedes vs. a snotling = 26/27 chance of knocking him over. My blocks wern't fantastic though.

Was amused to find I hit one thrall SEVEN times, almost half of all my turns. In fact I wonder if he is the one who had a wretched start to a drive - on my first turn he got stunned twice (piling on) and on your first turn he got ko'ed after being nibbled by a vampire.

Your last TD was fun because the vampire ran over the line, waited for a moment, then had a victory snack on the thrall he was standing next to before the TD was officially declared :)

Some fun moments in a game when the ogre's luck finally ran out. la played excellently as usual. I think a team at this stage of development is one of the worst for my ogres to play - enough experience to have picked up a useful amount of those General skills that ogres don't have access to, and cheap enough to still have a fair number of inducements.

The Lizards rounded off the perfect League season by beating Rav's Khemri 2-0

Image

The weather was Sweltering heat which turned out to be quite important, all things considered.

- I opted to receive, And despite having my traditional poor first turn (the kroxigor rolled double skulls, passed the loner roll, then rolled double skulls again! Four consecutive skulls!). The Lizards managed to clear the way to score in two turns.
- 1-0 to the Lizards.
- We set up again, with Rav. receiving but sweltering heat played it's part, and I lost 2 Saurii and a skink. But probably more importantly for Rav - He lost two Tomb guardians!
- I Lizards pretty much had the overall strength advantage therefore and managed to halt the Khemri advance, break the ball free, and run through to score on turn 8!
2-0 up at half time. But the Khemri are about to receive.
- The khemri receive, pick up the ball and start to drive.
- but the Lizards put bodies in the way, and slow the Khemri advance.
- Time pressure starts to tell, so Rav. tries a pass through the saurus lines, to get one of his players free.
- Startlingly it's intercepted by a Saurus of all people!
- The Lizards manage to break free, handoff to a skink who runs deep and safe in the Khemri half.
- Some more hitting happens, until the final turn, when the lizards unwisely try to hit rather than score their third and turnover

Overview
A fun game where the dice were fairly even-ish according to BBManager, but a couple of crucial moments went against Rav. Sweltering heat in the first half I think robbed Rav of a good chance at driving back to score, the Tomb guardians are so crucial to the Khemri game that halving their number was important (whilst I still had 4 Saurii and the Krokigor facing them), it made my job on defence so much easier.
In the second half The intercepted pass (I had to roll a 6 to make it) pretty much killed any chance of Rav. getting a draw.

The lizards have managed the extraordinary feat of going through the season without dropping a point! With the best defensive record, and a ridiculous number of goals scored. A lot of luck involved though, there were few if any games where I had poor luck. Thanks for games everyone.
Onward to the cup!

Okay, I now what I'm doing this week. I can do Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. My internet connection is better than it was, though not 100% (i.e. it drops out only occasionally and for short periods of time.) Not too sure exactly what the problem with it is/was.

Anyway, trying to keep to the original order as much as possible:

Rav / Pinewood - would you like to play tomorrow or Thursday?

La / Vampires - would you like to try "Part IV" on the day I'm not playing Rav?
