Thursday is good for me. I'll aim for 8 but might be a few minutes late.

Okay, I think I can do tonight and will try for 8.15?

Apologies if I have to cancel at short notice due to family reasons.

Great, thank you both! No worries if you have to cancel La, I'll be in all evening anyway.

I'll probably be watching Rusty Letter Openers Vs Far-Too-Camp East Germans; so if La does have family stuff to attend to and has to cancel then I can recall the 'Plan from the 'shroom farm and chuck 'em out onto the pitch to play the letteropeners instead?

Safe

Wyld and I had an excellent 6 turns. It looked all over for me by the second turn, but a good lightening bolt and sensible ball handling meant that I managed to steal the ball from the Chaos and score in turn 6. Then my connection went for the third time and didn't come back. We decided to call it a night.

Cheeseosophers strengthen hold on second place in tactical strollfest!

First half the vampires kicked, the elves gathering the ball on their right near halfway and caging up. The vampire defence columned up and squeeze them to the vampire left a little. Over the next 8 turns the elves advanced slowly - hemmed in on two sides and with two peckish vampires behind them (until one tripped up and wandered off the pitch looking for blood). Then RedLion miscounted the turns left, as we all realised at the beginning of turn 8, and couldn't break free far enough to score, which was unfortunate. There had been 2 blitzers in range of scoring with a GFI, but it would have been very complicated to work.

Second half the vampires received and made their way down their right, where despite mild blocking success they soon got hemmed in. But a lot of elves were committed to that flank, so the team strolled back towards the LOS with a thrall with the ball in a cage of vampires, which is probably normally where a thrall would feel least safe. The elves came over the vampires' left side of the pitch, although not too many, so a turn later the vampires went back to their right hand side, caging up and marking as many players and as much space as possible. At this point it was about 9-8 players in favour of the armoured elves. RedLion couldn't get enough of the elves back over and in the way, so in turn 16 a vampire blocked one elf, another blitzed a second, and then the thrall got to the EZ and failed his GFI... but luckily this turn there had been no bloodlusting and so the reroll got the TD and the win.

Well - the dice were greatly in RL's favour in this game - +25 better in d6 and +18 in 2d6, but I only really noticed on the 2d6 - at the end of both halves I had half my players out, I believe. But nothing particularly seemed to go wrong apart from both teams removing my thralls from the pitch more than I'd hoped (and failing all 5 KO rolls). I'd bought three thralls before the match to get me to 14 players (and over 11 without loners for the first time this season I think!) but I could have with even more.

I rolled a massive 18 blocks this game though!

Ok, assuming tonight works out between Red Lion and myself we will have 3 games left:

Brewers Brawlers vs Fables!
Astrogranite Apocalypse vs Fables!
Percy's Persistent Plan vs The Sons of the Silver Sword

The less punch drunk amongst you will notice that two of those games feature Fables! Id3, is your internet fixed, or likely to be fixed any time soon? If so can you take a break from pretending to be Johnny Mnemonic and arrange to play Wyld or Spinx? The other two games can happen on Sunday as is normal and regular.

The internet is still pretty sporadic. I wonder if Tuesday night was particularly bad because of all the people downloading Game of Thrones. I was planning to play Spinx as normal on Sunday, and Wyld whenever he fancies - seeing as Tuesday didn't work out. The engineer said the problem was higher up the network and they are "working on it."

I'm probably free at the weekend for another try Wyld. Saturday or Sunday some time?
