Forum Game - The Crush

Postby Raveen » Tue May 05, 2015 3:58 pm

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to THE CRUSH.

As you all know this is the event where young players leaving the College of Magic DungeonBowl League fight, claw and gouge each other in order to sign lucrative contracts with the top flight teams.

What this is in reality is a forum game where we construct teams from players in all the existing rosters.

The Rules.

  1. Players will sign up and then will be ordered randomly.
  2. Picks will be made as follows:
    Round 1 - Player 1, Player 2 ... Player n,
    Round 2 - Player n ... Player 2, Player 1
    Round 3 - Player 1 ... and so on.
  3. Each round will have a theme set by the commissioner (your generally benevolent Commissioner Raveen) which will be Big Guys, Throwers, Blockers etc. So if the theme is throwers you could pick the Human thrower unless it's already been picked by another player.
  4. Some players can be picked twice because they appear on multiple rosters, for example there's the Goblin Team Goblin and the Orc Team Goblin.
  5. Lists of these types of players do not exist so if you want an odd choice, you'll have to justify it - the more audacious your lies justification the more likely you are to get your pick. If the commissioner rejects your justification then you will pick a replacement at the end of the round.
  6. The total value for the teams shall not exceed 1.25 Million Gold.
  7. Final teams must consist of a full 16 players. It is the Coach's responsibility to make sure he has enough gold to buy all 16 players. Deliberately bankrupting another Coach would probably be fun.
  8. For the purposes of this competition, players with Bloodlust may bite any player without regeneration.
  9. Other rules may be instituted at random according the the whims of the commissioner.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

That document shows the order which goes: La, Daigoro, Raveen, Id3, Nj, Nj, Id3, Raveen, Daigoro, La and so on.

It also shows the theme of each round. To help here's a definition of each player type.

Big Guy Big on brawn, not on brain. Some teams choose to take to the pitch with a barely sentient monstrosity.
Blitzer The undisputed stars of the Blood Bowl pitch, blitzers are fast, strong and awesome!
Blocker Solid, slow, hard. The Blocker is exactly what you need to dish out the damage.
Thrower The thrower is the quarterback of the team. Collecting the ball and delivering it to a waiting receiver.
Catcher The catcher's job is to run down the pitch and wait for the ball to come to them. Fast and squishy, the catcher is a key part of the passing game.
Lineman Linemen are the standard players on each team. Never spectacular but always there to make up the numbers.
Others Then there are the others. Renegades and cheats, some players don't fit into any other category.

Essentially we're making new teams by picking positions from the existing rosters. So you could have a high elf thrower, a gutter runner and a mummy on the same team.

We can then argue about which team is best. Themed teams would be fun.

But the Underworld team has already been created, Rav! Or are you after something less objectively best?

Would we be arguing for actual real players from our league (eg Shrek the Third) or merely positional players (eg a Wardancer)?

Positionals, so if the theme is blitzers you could pick the wardancer or a Wight or whatever.

Okay, and is that completely rookie, or can we argue with potential in mind? Or included in the TV? And when can we start the cup? I'm getting fever.

What in the blazes...

I understand nothing. I'm a troll, on mushrooms, humor me...

Is this a 'what if' or are we actually getting to play matches too? Or are we just signing up to boast about fantasy teams that we cant actually fantasize with?

Either way I'm in. I think.

(thats what she said, etc etc)

Short of getting together with a load of miniatures, there's no way to play these teams. It's just for a bit of forum fun.
