If we are taking any race from the LRB6 I have on my desktop,

I will take the Slann Catcher.

:-)

And if we are moving onto specials, I'll save some money. Go for the comedy value and get a Goblin Bombardier.

Gah, I'm wrong! Amazon Catchers have General and Agility. Still, I'll stick with my choice.

The Slann catcher was my second choice, it's a corking piece, well played nj!

I was tempted by the Slann catcher too. Not sure if it was worth saving the extra 10,000 but the Amazon Catcher is just a bit more resilient. Specials... hmmm.

I'm open to all sorts of arguments regarding this pick. Nj was definitely in the right area but there's various things that you could fit into this category.

I was tempted by the Dwarven Deathroller, but the cost made it prohibitive for me. So I'll go with a nice cheap Goblin Looney instead. And see what excitement the rest of you dream up!

Goddammit I pussied out of picking slan... Excellent work though NJ!

If this DOES happen on TT then I will be excited to see the frogs bouncing about. Id actually really like to play them properly but cyanide don't acknowledge their existence... :(

Any road, back to thinking about an ingenious 'specials' pick.

Is a special obligatory? Can it be a star player?

I think I'd define "special" as someone who isn't a Big Guy but who also doesn't have a lineman's stats. Or, in the case of the goblin mentalists, has some rare and special skill.

eg id3 mentioned the Deathroller, isn't that a Big Guy? Maybe things like a Dark Elf Assassin, a Necromantic Flesh Golem, a norse Ulfwerener (or anyone with Frenzy as a starting skill) would qualify? Ooh, or a vampire?

The category is "Other" and was intended to be those players who don't fit into any other position. Like I said, if you want to argue it you could try pretty much anything here. Also, you might want to read the position blurb a few pages back (first post even?) for some hints...

But no star players because they aren't rosterable positions.

Hmm - DO has already chosen a vampire as a blitzer (let's hope he chooses a thrall as a lineman!) (or special...) but that's a good call.

But can a dwarf also be a Big Guy?

La, may I point you to Point 8 from the rules/first post.

My vampire can bite ANYONE.

I won't be buying a thrall.

Unless, you know, its the best choice left.
