Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Don't know but it would make sense - I was just about to challenge DO to his 5th when I realised I must have played 5. Which was a pretty good excuse to make an even more cheese-based new team theme than ever before! Sweet!
edit - which will hopefully be my skaven team for season... 10 or something.

In all honesty, nobody should be denied a game if they want to play one. Just don't go daft with it.
Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
There's also the old rolling thunder league if you want to play random matches with random teams.

No it's okay I just named up a skaven team because I'd one day like to play them again in the league.
Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
In true Raveen vs id3nt1ty style, the game was a very fun and exciting 0 - 0 draw at half time. The Chaos Dwarves made a good push down the flank, despite the risk of being surfed but got snarled up as the Khorne frenzied them out of position. In the end, Rav attempted an audacious dodge and pass maneuver to try to get the ball to a waiting Bull Centaur who failed to catch.
C27 received in the second half and opened by surfing off a dwarven blocker. I made a hard push down one flank, but made a positioning error and lost the ball after scrum on the side line. It looked like Rav was going to get away with it as a Bull Centaur pranced off with the ball, but a lucky block set a Khorne Herald free to blitz him. The Bull Centaur was stunned and the Herald managed to pick up the ball which meant he just had to stroll up the pitch to score. Rav managed to get some tacklezones on him, but was unable to blitz so he just had to make a dodge in order to score the winning touchdown.
Kurt Cobain got a broken collarbone and has been sacked, despite reaching level two. Jim Morrison has been hired in his place.

CONFUSION AND FEAR AS CUP MATCHDAY ONE HORRIBLY DELAYED

In the ensuing ruckus a substitute match between two more or less new teams took place, with the glorious smelling Mastercheesers being beaten to a bloody - and in one case broken and now retired - pulp by a bunch of humans in bras and kneepads.
A blitz on kickoff saw the man-rats swarm into the women-humans' half and catch the ball, only to almost immediately suffer a KO to one of their star gutter runners, who, if he'd've been awake, would have thought himself lucky not to have instead have his neck snapped, like his erstwhile colleague Captain Cheshire. Upon closer inspection the doctor said in fact it was merely a smashed skull. Sometime later, just before the whistle blew for the end of the half, the humans trotted it in to take the lead.
The second half saw a typical quick skaven score, helped moderately but not decisively by a woman-human tripping up in front of the advancing gutter runners. Morale boosted, the large rats then actually got some human-types off the pitch, and the rest of the game settled down to a nice steady occurrence of nothing much. 1-1 at full time. Two retirements in two matches is setting quite the pace eh Brian?
What? Oh yes - quite, Stan, quite: the debut game of the new skaven franchise of heroic and historic Royal Navy sailors brought back to life in the form of international cheeses of repute was somewhat different in scoreline - 4-1! - but quite the same in terms of dead rats being eaten by their once-colleagues with some hard bread and even harder beer; in fact, we already can't remember the poor Able Seaman's name - but then he was just an Able Seaman, so who cares, right?

This match actually happened two full calendar days ago, and I can barely remember a second of it.
In the first half the skaven scored a defensive touchdown, pouncing on a handling error deep in their half and streaking off up and then across and then up the pitch to go into the changing rooms one nil up. This full pitch run is translated by BBM as "14 yards".
The rats receiving in the second half, the humans got into the enemy' half before the ball even landed, and caught the blighter, but that didn't last long. The blitzer went down, the ball bounced at the Ogre's feet, a gutter runner picked it up, and then some other stuff led to it being 2 and then 3-0.
Then the skaven got a blitz, and two gutter runners near the ball, and a human passed it straight to one of them who made it 4-0. The humans then got a nice consolation, neatly busting their thrower out of some ratty encirclement to wang the ball downfield to rookie catcher somethingsomething (these human names all sound alike).

These allsoumdimgthesame humans can fill I'm some blanks...
A catcher failed a rerolled Catch in the endzone, then a Blitzer failed a blitz and the rats dodged all the way down the pitch to score.
Then TWO players failed GFIs on TWO separate occasions (one rerolled, and would've been a surf into the peasants pitchside ) to get 2die blitzes on the ballcarrier, from which the turnover lead to scores for the cheesefiends
Then the jammy rats got a blitz, then a jammy interception and another jammy TD.
We're not bitter, but it was no way a 4-1 thumping. The convicts were well chuffed with their play working the field and positioning nicely only to have nuffle Stomp on the dangly bits at the key times.
Moral of the story being that friendlies aren't always good for you...
PirlOrc was an interested spectator let's just say...

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Season 6 preseason continued with the debut of the new Nurgle outfit.

First half started with Nurgle defending the ball reasonably well with a decent formation, though they had a player sent off for nothing with a failed turn 2 foul. No Entry, the Beat of Nurgle, tied players up well with tentacles. Then things went wrong as Nuffle favoured the Amazons and the nurgle line fell apart in spectacular style, leaving the Amazons an easy TD on turn 4. The rest of the half passwed without too much incident, though No Entry did find himself with the ball, and no idea of what to do with it.
The second half started with No Entry sidelined by a rock thrown from the crowd! Thankfully no serious injury, he will be back next game. A Nurgle Warrior gave in to the heat so it was 11 v 8. Before long however, the Nurgle's improved hitting made it 9 v 8 and they had the Amazons pinned against the sideline. However the Amazons didn't care and rolled 6-6-6-5 to complete an unlikely dodge/pickup/pass/catch to score with only a couple of turns left.
The ref called the next drive to start but not everyone turned up. After some investigations it turned out a combination of wimpy KO'ed amazons and the sweltering heat meant that it would be 6 nurgle against 5 amazons! The pitch looked so empty. With all the empty space it looked quite likely the Nurgle would score a consolation TD, but rolled 1-1 for a catch - but did manage a pass on the last turn for the experience. On the amazon side, they ganged up on a Nurgle Warrior and hit him so hard he will miss the next game!
---------------------------
The dice were actually fairly even (apart from the block dice), it's just the Amazon got the crucial ones when they needed them. 2 injuries each - the amazons getting a niggling injury and a death (which means a free rotter for me, woo), Nurgle just having a Warrior sitting out the next match. The amazons dealt with the loss of one of their players by buying a new one, and getting three level-ups (including a +ST). Nurgle got their MVP on a Warriro, which was nice.
An entertaining game with a lot happening, was fun to play. Well played red lion 3!

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Well it's no longer certain the vampires will be coming back next season - Albert Camusbert most definitely won't... But then, perhaps...
Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
At least he didn't die double skulling on a goblin... Seems it's traditional for the vampires to start a season down a player.

It'll be a shame if they didn't come back. I really thought they could do well next season - especially after they marmalised my Norse.

Well, they've got two weeks to have a good hard look at themselves, the cheesy eejits.
I was totally certain I was going to play them at least another season, but I don't know how much I fancy being the massive TV overdog every game given the actual amount of progress the team have made (I think every other team will be new).
Might try to get in a couple of friendlies on the Cup evenings to see if that persuades me

I haven't seen how teams carry over from one season to another yet, but...
man-for-man, this year the Vampires were pretty hard to knock down, and more importantly keep down. Its a shame you lost AC (though for a neutral the game was pretty spectacular for injuries), but once you get his replacement (Albert CamusBacusBert ?) I'm thinking they'll be pretty stiff opposition even with inducements?

Yeah! It's crazy the game rated it only 8/20! That's less than how many blood stains my team made!
I've had teams suffer horribly before - here I think the main problem is I've been playing some friendlies with the skaven who've made me look longingly elsewhere for a team that only dies a lot, rather than dies a lot and eats their own players and screws everything up

A couple of games should help me decide!

No way - I've learnt my lesson. Both vampires that died were not named after ancient greek philosophers. I'm not an idiot, I can take a hint.
