First things first... in no way whatsoever is Troopin' Funnel in any way at all anywhere near to being a pointy-eared freak.

Well, ok, he IS a pointy-eared freak, but is certainly not one of those filthy elves. ERgh.

+ST would be wonderful, stats of 6347 on a goblin team would be like having my own star player, thing is I'm not sure that I'd know how to play him properly... need to think this through.

In the mean time, here's a picture of Troopin' Funnel's proud parents.

Anyone fancy a quick friendly whilst the semis are on?

I'd like a murder-free game or two before next season with my battered vampires to prove to myself I really should carry on with them. Or if you don't want a wizard and Morg I could give the new (and also battered) skaven a run out.

To clarify I won't be able to play tonight, Gandalf, what night would fit you this week?

"To clarify" - did you say it somewhere else and I missed it?

Bah, was really looking forwards to it as well. Monday to Wednesday work for me then, just let me know. Re: next Sunday either to play in or (more likely) watch the final. I'm away for the weekend with the youth group I help with and we should be back 5pm-ish. Might have a frazzled brain after all that though!

Given the semi is off for tonight - I'm up for a friendly be that against la or someone else - the Nurgle team would like another match, they've only had one thus far, will be nice to work towards the preferred starting line-up. Also it seems a bit "in poor taste"/unrealistic to play with the Ogres just so I have my injured ogre back for the semi.

I don't think you could take the ogres out the cup without making a terrible mess!

I'll happily friendly your nurgle - I'd prefer as vampires to try and forget my last vampire match but if you prefer a new team my skaven for season 8 or 9 are 3 games in.

Yes Tuesday is fine. It's no bother recently. Just a shame the cup is so fractured this season! Hopefully the final will be a good occasion. Kinda hoping it'll be lizards-Khemri (or, more unlikely, Ogre-Goblin) as I don't think any other matchup will be a close match.

I'd be up for another friendly at some point, although I'm pushing the five game "limit." However, in the last two games I've had to sack two Khorne Heralds, so if anything these friendlies have been loosing my team SPP (and money).

Well. There was a game. Not necessarily one that made me think, yeah, awesome, let's play vampires for another season, but definitely a game.

Image

A somewhat sloppy resistance in the first half saw the Cheeseosophers concede a fairly quick touchdown in the double-sweltering heat (the sweltering heat was rerolled at kick off to sweltering heat...), the Nurgle's Pestigor running it in comfortably.

The heat sweltered out a few players each and 9vs9 set up for the Vampire return drive, and as the kick came over both the clouds and sweltering heat departed, revealing a blinding (and curious) subterranean sun. The drive ended with Aristotle temporarily stopping being awful and prancing around the Nurgle lines, wanging the ball a few feet to Archimedes, who nearly stopped for a drink but in fact didn't, and scored.

Then the second half was a bit different. The vampires received, but quite soon didn't really have quite enough players to really do much (Chaos Star Player Borat the Despoiler despoiled the crap out of the lads), and eventually something bad happened and the Nurgle got the ball, until probably one of the A vampires knocked it free and ran off. Just as the two A vampires started off down the left, having a friendly chat about leather tights or something as they did so, a great ball of fire fractured Archie's skull and burnt Aristotle so bad he had to leave the pitch, but they both got better, which was nice.

Then Pestigor Now Wash Your Hands didn't pick up the ball - oh, did I mention at this point the lads were down to 3 players? Versus 10? They were, crikey - and ran out of time whilst deciding whether to try again or not. The ball scattered off the pitch, from maybe 7 or 8 squares from my endzone to 9 or 10 from Gandalf's. But surely it would be okay? There was only two thralls and rookie Vampire Pythagoras on the pitch (for the Vampires)! But Pythagoras was near the ball, and without even stopping to make a joke about angles he didn't blood lust, dodged, dodged into a tackle zone, picked up in a tackle zone, dodged, went for it and went for it one last time to put himself out of blitzing range in turn 16.

All he had to do was not bloodlust and then dodge, and he actually managed it.

Crikey!

Stat of the game, for me - I got 2/10 KO rolls. They just couldn't be bothered this evening :) Otherwise the dice were mostly even.

WAITNO! Stat of the game was 0 deaths!

Grotjarvis gets another extreme piece of luck as a Crash robs Dai of an excellent first half where he was winning

The Goblins get loads of inducements. Take 3 Bribes, Ripper bolgrot and some Babes.

1st Try
Dai Receives
The Chainsaw raises merry havoc taking out 3 players and stunning another in the first 4 turns
The ball and chain knocks over a few players, and the three troll phalanx provides a fearsome sheild as the Team grinds down the field and scores on turn 8.

Then Percy's wife woke up from her beautiful dream....

What actually happened was there was a crash meaning the game couldn't continue. Nothing for it but to restart.

So here's what happened on the second try.
Image
2nd Try
- Notjarvis Receives.
- he knows his best chance is to score quickly as it means the Secret weapons will be off the field qwuicker, so the lizards push forward and score around turn 3.
- The Goblins try and retaliate, but the Lizards manage to stall their advance enough that they try a risky play down the side, a pass fails. The lizards then recover the ball (and once again like the last game) a misplaced pass is recovered by the diving catch skink to receive a pass, and run in to score.
Heartbreak for the goblins as they end the first half 2-0 down
- the goblins work the ball back down to score fairly late in the second half (with 3 turns left IIRC)
- But with no Secret weapons, and numbers down they can't cover the field and the MA 10 skink gets handed the ball and runs in to score the Lizards 3rd and kill the game.

Dice
Sadly I cant get any stats for the first game - My dice felt awful, Felt like I rolled only one or two defender downs in the first half. It was finely poised though, Dai was 1-0 up, but I was about to receive planning to score a quick as possible to get rid of the secret weapons, and we would have seen what happened from there in the second half.

The second game was pretty close on the D6 (with the goblins having a slight advantage), Goblins doing much better on the 2D6, but the block dice were clearly the Lizards, with very nearly a quarter of their rolls being Defender down, which was clearly extremely helpful.

Feel awfully sorry about it.

Correction about the end of our match - Vampire winning TD was turn 14, not 16 - I had two turns to equalise but MAN it's hard to score quickly when you have one person on your team with movement greater than 5, no throw team-mate, no dodge, no passing or catching skills.... I should've had a chance against 6 defenders (la had utterly awful luck with KO'ed players) but it was made a lot harder by la being able to re-organize his defence from the kickoff roll.

I saw the best & worst of the vampires today, they can be utterly awesome or hilariously bad. To me they seem a bit like ogres, but with better agility and skill access, much better minions (thralls >> snotlings) but less injury-inflicting ability. Overall better. I made some mistakes, as did la, (tpyical pre-season friendly you might say) but it was a good learning experience, they are a totally different team to manage to Wood Elves or Ogres so good to get somewhat up to speed before the competition. Getting 10k in winnings was a bit sad though.

Lord Borak (NOT Borat! Was that intentional? If so it was funny) with Despoiler was epic, he brought his lucky dice with him I think. I think he got half the KO's/injuries that my team inflicted (not including the greatest fireball of all time).

The weather made me laugh though, rolling double 1, which is later re-rolled to a double one, and then re-rolled to a 1+2....
-----------------------------
In more important news, I really feel for Daigaro. I propose giving him the bronze medal for the cup. And 5 million euros.

Tune in tomorrow to see who will face the all-conquering Lizards in the final! The Khemri must be the favourites but they did lose to the Ogres in the regular season. One thing is for sure - there will be lots of hitting....

Goodness, yes it was turn 14, quite dim of me to forget so quick. I got a blitz and put my six players in the way of your team who as you say are not mobile enough to go round much.

Borat was intentional, yes, it's what I thought you'd said when you induced him :) And crikey but he did indeed despoil.

Condolences to daigaro and the gobbos...

The Carrions chose to receive, aiming to go for a war of attrition in the first half. We drove through the center but got a bit bogged down. A path was pushed through the middle but only two players could break through. They didn't push over to the sideline and an Ogre was able to 2 GFI blitz and knock over the ball carrier. 1 Ogre and 1 Snotling were able to hold the ball back for the rest of the half. Things were looking bad, 0-0 and kicking in the second.

Two Snotlings ran down the sidelines to tempt me into trying to push them out but I'm wise to sidestep now. One got clobbered with block and tack and the other was marked. The Ogres charged forward splattering my front line. The opportunity for glory was there, the Ogre wound back his arm, released the ball and a Skeleton intercepted it to general surprise. As my plan for the half was not predicated on having the ball I was confused. Luckily for me Gandalf's front line Ogres had boneheaded allowing me to run through his line and cage up on the right of midfield.

A turn of reaction from the Ogres and I was able to break free and move up the pitch. No ogres could reach me but Gandalf saw an opportunity to throw a snotling into the fray. The small green chap spiraled through the air and landed on another snotling, injuring both. By this time I injured two Ogres so it was a case of stalling out for a few turns and walking over the line in turn 16.

The luck was fairly even coming in clumps for both teams. It looked desperate after teh first half but turned on a sixpence. Well played Gandalf, I look forward to seeing the Ogres again.
