My friend says no for now but maybe next season. I will try and invite him to watch the final anyhow & get him hooked.

But, in reference to this, I am 'tutoring' the youth from work on tuesday evening, hopefully I can get him hooked enough to get him signed up for next season. I have a feeling he'll learn quickly enough.

One more pre-season friendly today, Nurgle vs. Amazons (RL3) again, as neither of us could connect to the final (at least others could). Nurgle field a rotter who was an Amazon player in a former life

First half kicks off. The amazon levelled-up catcher gets KO'ed by a stone! Nurgles KO a few amazons, it's looking good for the numbers game. However then Amazons injure 3 players in 3 consecutive blocks!!! Nurgle slowness/decent cover means they can't quite get to the ball carrier and with the numbers game looking more equal it looks like the Amazons are going to run it in for a turn 8 TD.... but a Nurgle Warrior makes a few slightly crazy rolls and both-downs the ball carrier (hah, take that, dodge!) and we go in half time at 0-0.

Second half, Nurgle receive but Amazons get a blitz from kick-off. Some mashing happens and some calamitous die are rolled. An amazon tries to pick the ball up but KO's himself. They soon have their hands on it anyway and a massive scrum forms some 6 squares out from the Nurgle TD zone. The amazons, surrounded by bigger, smellier players decide the only things for it was to try to score, so roll Tentacles, dodge, dodge, GFIx2 to score.

With 3 or 4 turns left the Nurgle wonder how they are going to score, especially when the ball comes to rest in the absolute far corner of the pitch. No matter, Nuffle is with the Nurgle as this super-slow team manage to get it from one end to the other in 3 turns! I had a re-roll which I didn't even need over the course of a pick-up, 2 hand-offs, 4 GFI's, countless blocks and a dodge. Blimey.

Amazons can't score in the last two turns. However a nurgle warrior does finally manage to clobber an amazon and pick up 2SPP. This was the only injury I inflicted all-game, apart from one out-of-bounds player, in comparison to the deadly amazon blocks.

Was a fun game, the luck ebbed & flowed and the two TD's were both rather spectacular. Nurgle MVP goes to a now-dead player! Doh. At least I got 30k (compared to 10k last time), and my first non-defeat. Amazons get +MV on a catcher.... nice.

edit: More good storyline fun - my TD was scored by Trudy Lies - the ex-amazon player. However in a mark of revenge, the rotter that killed her in the first place was herself killed in this game! You couldn't make it up. Stay tuned for the next instalment in the Amazon-Nurgle soap opera/grudge match/rivalry later this season!

I'm happy to stay this weekend. We need Wyld and Spinx to sign up first though. I have a schedule ready to go, it just needs a tweak or two.
