It was just the mapping of axes to the wrong stickb that meant I was trying to fly with a wheel. It didn't take too long to remap everything to my recently repaired Sidewinder so I don't need a yoke, although it would feel appropriate for a T6 :)

Buy it? You could have it for free if space trucking is what you're into. I've not even opened it, and have no plans for it - it's just forgotten in the cupboard under the stairs.

I swear one of us will find great use for that yoke some day (or if not id3nt1ty should sell it on ebay at 80%) of the price of a new one. Unused afterall, but without warranty most likely).

Goodness me it's a long way home. I'm currently going as far up as I can to allow my navicomp to run without shutting down the rest of the ship (seriously, >5 minutes to calculate a 75ly, 3 jump trip).

I had a nice chat with a Fur de Lance whilst I was there but bugged out pretty quickly.

I'll be heading inward to the core at some point, but I think I am going to travel along the arms forst, to get a little off the not-so-beaten path

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Variations in jump range, starting point and end point mean that it doesn't take long to lose the discovered systems.

How much planetary scanning did you do on your way in?

For a long time I scanned every primary star, every secondary in range and checked for Water or ELs. Latterly I just jumped in and space honked whilst scooping.

"Space Honked" - Quite an apt term.

I am headed to Gamma Velorum - A Wolf-Rayet star. I want to see what it looks like in game. And it's plenty far away, too!

See if you can find a Herbig Ae/Be, they're a real spectacle.

Gamma Velorum, and quite a lot of the stars around it, require an "Unknown Permit"

Wonder what sort of permit you'd need 1,000 light years from Earth
