I think I should stick to races that I understand even a little.

That list does not include Dark Eldar apparently.

On a different note, is it possible to switch off the fatuous random comments from your soldiers? I'm not sure I want to, but sometimes it gets annoying for the pricks you're ordering about to shout "For the Emprah" over and over again.

There are quite a few options in the Audio settings. Tau aren't quite so obnoxious.

It was the Dark Elf builder that got right on my tits. Until they all died horribly, that was quite satisfying although not terribly good in terms of achieving anything.

I love the squad chatter. It's part of the atmosphere for me. At least they are only 1-5 seconds long, unlike blood bowl's commentary. Also, it can sometimes be useful - eg "sir... there's too many of 'em!" means the squad's morale has been broken. There is a visual representation of this too (the red circles underneath them) but in the heat of battle, an audio notification can be useful.

For those who weren't around, yesterday we played a 4v4 against the AI. There were some rocky moments, it seemed especially for myself & Rav who were in the corners, but we all helped each other out & pulled through. This exchange amused me...
Rav - "Oh don't worry, they seem to have gone now"
Me "Only because I am attacking them outside of your base"
Rav - "oh yeah! Thanks"
:D

Then la, Rav & myself played a 3v3 on a map which I think is called death alley - it's long and thin, the AI do alright on it in my experience. We were facing Necron Necron space marines, and we lost... I was under pressure the whole game, as were my team-mates. I gave as good as I got but I felt like 2 armies were attacking me most of the time (that may just be perception). Here's a few facts about Necrons which may help you understand your enemy.

- They don't require requisition, only power. Their first power plant is free - each subsequent power plant they build costs 20 more than the previous one.
- Capturing points does speed up how fast they can produce & research - so long as they build an obelisk on it. The bonus maxes out at 5 points.
- The only troops they have capable of capturing points are scarabs - the builder units.
- Only their monolith (starting structure) can build troops/"vehicles".
- The Necron lord (and scarabs maybe?) starts back from where he was killed. This was an utter pain for me yesterday, especially towards the end I had 2 necron lords attacking my base, so when they got killed I had a few minutes' respite, before he was back there again...

PS Downside of playing Dark Crusade is no flying units. Also will have to copy zoom mod files across to another folder, that's easy to do though.

Given that I have yet to figure out how to kill fliers, I don't have a problem with moving to DC :)

I think you have to click the Jump order on the squad info tab on the bottom right.

BTW, now all us BB people have seen this thread and will follow it, can we move it back to Other Games so that people not following this forum spot it?

Done - "Ghost topic" left in place to help people find it. But new posts won't show up via the Blood Bowl forum.

I made an RT Logo for DoW Badge purposes.

If you google how to add it, you'll be able to use that logo on your troops in game. Just a bit of fun but nice :)

Considering this is a multi-page endeavour, perhaps we should add a sub-forum for Dawn of War?

Hell, could even get a league going like the Blood Bowl league, perhaps.

Maybe. Let's give it a bit more time first to see if it sticks.

A 75% off voucher for the base game has appeared in my steam account, valid for 6 days, so if anyone wants it let me know.
