Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
So...
Would it best to try to get me vs Rav out the way first in case of connection problems and leave me vs Gandalf till Saturday, or the other way round, since hopefully that will only take one attempt?
Tell me who is most available when, and I'll try to book it up...
How does this sound - Rav on Thursday, Gandalf on Saturday? Problem there is if Rav's connection drops, but then if we don't try to replay the whole game and just the half like you did with Nathan perhaps we could still finish in one go?

Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
Urg, I've been booked by the family on Thursday till probably 9 now - too late? However the inlaws are leaving tomorrow instead of later, so I am free tomorrow?
Sorry...
Sorry...
Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
I'm still free any night but Thursday. I have a ton of things to do in the evenings this week but they are mostly not date-specific.

I'd prefer tonight - I'll try and sort it out with my wife when I get in. I will have to put one of the children to bed I think - can you still play if it's 8.30 instead of 8?

Update: tonight is good and I'll try to get bedtime done as close to 8pm as possible!!
Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
OK - will assume 8pm but 8:30pm is OK if it turns out that way.

Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
Vamps bleed their way to a 2-0 victory to take league lead

Pre-game:
The Nurgle took two bribes in a respectful show of intent.
First half:
After the weather changed from Very Sunny to Very Sunny, the Nurgle received and gathered up the ball. A vampire pranced through the lines, one of the protecting Warriors being hypnotised by Aristotle's shiny new kilt, and after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing knocked the ball out of the Nurgle's hands. Because of Disturbing Presence, the Vampires failed about 6 catches in a row from scattering balls, which was amusing. There was a messy scrum, and eventually the ball popped out, and Pythagoras ran away with it down the right, and scored.
Second Half:
The vampires started pushing down the right, but came face to face with a festering tentacle, and decided to push left instead, whereupon it all went a bit wrong. There was some pushing and some blood lusting and stuff, if I recall (I don't very well) and then eventually Aristotle ran off with the ball. He was knocked over, and then the Vampires shamed themselves with some extremely Elfy stuff, knocking the ball loose, and then dodging, picking up and GFIing to make it 2-0.
The remaining 3 turns or so mostly consisted of the weather being Really Hot and Nurgle bashing the poor lads a bit more.
Highlights included Nurgle getting Death with two consecutive blocks (but not the third!!), and Archimedes injuring himself off by failing a Foul Appearance roll, rerolling it, then double skulling to break his neck. Thankfully Regen for once worked and saved him from the sack... All the dice were in varying degrees in my favour, but not overwhelmingly - we both had patches of incompetence thanks to the dice.
I'm in the market for some new cheese names!

Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
For a quick review, this is most excellent.
The first TD I was a bit silly about. I should've left the ball surrounded by both our players rather than push your player onto it, with the ball ending up on your side. You would've had a hard time clearing enough people away.
The second TD.... was just ridiculously elfy. Now I know what it was like for you guys playing against my wood elves...
Agree re: the luck, you had the D6 and 2D6 but it didn't seem too ridiculous (apart from possibly the 2nd TD). I had friendly block dice - my lack of block didn't hinder me much. Most of my bad luck came in the 3 turns at the end, but failed to even get a pass away in that time. I think the game ended with only 2 Vampire players on the pitch so if I could've just got the ball forwards I probably would've got a consolation but instead failed a GFI and three pick-up attempts so I never even got to the stage of throwing the pass...
Big up to Give Way, who managed 14 blocks, and STOP who managed 13! That's Shiny Demon-esque.
The way I see it, there are three tactics to play against the Vampires. One is to have wrestle/tackle/speed to counter them directly. I lack in these things - indeed my only Wrestle player was killed early on, and my speedy pestigor was KO'ed early too. The second way is to bludgeon them into submission, and boy did I try that....! My armour break luck was poor but succeeding with 8 of the 23 injury rolls was good luck (albeit some of them were thralls getting eaten....heh). The third way is "make them roll lots of dice" and he rolled 131 D6's, so I think I made a decent stab at that one too. Stuff like tentacles, tackle, prehensile tail are on the future horizon for this team to stop this dodgy nonsense.
Post match, my beast and 2 nurgle warriors levelled up, so all 5 of my ST4+ guys have levelled up now, happy times
I did give one of the warriors +AV for the lols though rather than a more sensible skill. I took Cheddar (who won MVP, ha) in preference to Edam to join my team, because he's simply a superior cheese. I can see a time in the not too distant future when all my rotters will have come from other teams...
Good luck to the remaining teams to play the Vampires... I did what I could to them! Unfortunately it was only thralls, sorry for that...
Oooh and the other exciting post-match news is that as a result of knocking my guys over a lot (seriously, I think this block-adverse team managed more knock-downs than anyone else) and I am back in contention for the cup! It's a 3 way race between myself, the Orcs, and (possibly) the Chaos Dwarves. I will re-watch the first half of Rav's game with me so I can find out how many knockdowns we both dished out, so we can correct the stats for the purposes of cup qualification.
Bonus interesting stat.... 55 of my 57 blocks were 2 dice ones.

I don’t remember if this is higher than my average with vampires, but it physically repulses me how many dice I have to roll with them. I mean – if all I want to do is move every Vampire every turn that’s 64 dice rolls!
Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
Yeah... and you've only got 4 Vampires... try playing with 6 ogres! Much less exhausting to play these teams online rather than on a table top.
I think you did around 50 dodge dice rolls which felt like a reasonable amount.
Oh and also, well played, you deserved the victory.

Re: RT BBL S6 - Week 8 16th August 2015
Thanks – it was a good game!
It got worryingly close on my drive with the numbers (and with my repositioning to the left after double one-ing the Foul Appearance block in Turn 9), it was quite hard fought.
I can sympathise with 6 ogres. My TV would be enormous(er) if I had 6 vampires and the thralls would really suffer…
