I suspect that decent dodge rolls probably balanced out the horrible bloodlust rolls in the figures but on the pitch failing Bloodlust is worse as it can wreak havoc on your play. La was unfailingly good with his positioning and whilst the game should have felt easy by the end of each half, it never did. A win I feel like I earned and will cherish.

Good summary Rav. I wanted to score quick on my drive, as the team don’t yet have a lot of flexibility in offense, and I wanted as much time as possible to try out defending – it things work well the Vampires have good potential for disrupting slow cages. Unfortunately they never quite worked well enough. Perhaps if I’d saved my wizard… It’s also hard with MA6 to get enough players up the pitch to screen off well for a flank TD.

Ok, so NJ will play Wyld and there's a scrum to see who gets to Dwarf it out with Spinx. Id3 and Daigoro can arrange things with Spinx I'm sure :)

One more turn would have made my life immeasurably harder, although by that point I'd be setting up St 5 chain pushes and clogging up your running paths with more bodies. If you had a 4th Vamp you could have considered a receiver down the other wing although he'd have no doubt failed bloodlust and exploded into a shower of bats so maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I'll need to play Spinx on a catch up weekend, won't have time in the week, swamped with work and supervising the real life Percy.

Not fussed who plays Spinx first though, I'll let ID3 choose

I'm not sure I'll have time during the week this week, but perhaps on Monday next week?

Monday sounds good as I am working the day instead of my normal evening shift.

Welcome to the catchup week in the RT BBL!

Firstly we have The Brewers Brawlers versus Percy’s Persistent Plan. This game was missed last week, Bob, because the Brawlers got involved in a hardcore drinking session that lasted all day. The Brawlers were found asleep on the floor of the local tavern when the bar staff came to open up in the morning. The degree to which the beer had been spike with narcoleptic mushroom essence has yet to be determined.

Also on Sunday is Astrogranite Apocalypse against Saur’d of Justice. These two hard hitting teams are currently sitting in opposite halves of the league and the Apocalypse will be looking to get in and smack their way to a win. It’s unclear how well they’ll be able to keep up with the Skinks though.

Then as a special bonus, on Monday we have The Brewers Brawlers fresh from their game against the Goblins, playing Fables!. The hard drinking Dwarves are confident that they’ll be able to win this one. “We saw them Doggies in the pub last night and all they wanted was Spritzers” commented a Brawlers Blocker before keeling over.

Whatever happens it’s set to be a bumper weekend of Blood Bowl!

Just a quick heads up from Spinx, he'll be running a little late this evening - about fifteen minutes.

Ouch a brutal Game of Blood Bowl. Where the Saurii raised carnage leaving the Chaos boys battered.

Image

I get lots of inducements, and decide to Take Sliblito give the LOS a bit of Extra Firmness (we needed his Guard I thought). Took bloodweiser babes (I was expecting a bashy game) and a Wizard (who proved match turning).

On the minus side taking the Star player Saurus meant I had 8 players AG1 players on the field, so ball handlers are at a premium.

1st half was Brutal.
1st turn
Wyld started off really well - injured the star player on the first turn, Caged up really well and ran players in my half.
My 1st turn was dreadful. Failed to hit anything, and a skink rolled skulls twice when he tried a single die block - injuring himself in the process.
However.... I decided to use the wizard at the first chance, fireballing the cage, which injured the Ball carrying Beastman and Injuring a Chaos Warrior to boot.
More hitting continued, I also managed to injure the minotaur and another beastman, wild tried some nice moves to get the ball free, into my half, but a failed pass, and later a failed handoff stymied him, The skinks picked up the ball, made a pass! and ran deep to score on turn 5!

Wild retaliates Quickly - it nearly all goes wrong for him as he fails two go for its (with no reroll for the second) while running the ball deep into my half. but a skink fails a (rerolled 3+) pickup leaving it open for Wyld to score with the last move of the half! (it needed a dodge-pickup-2GFI -Handoff-Dodge sequence to do it, but it made up a little for his poor luck earlier)

1-1 At half time.

Chaos starts with 10 (as the did the last drive) versus the lizard's 11, with the Lizards receiving
The Lizards Roll a double skull first block! Needs rerolling, but I'm hoping it's not a sign of things to come. my luck turns though as we start knocking down more chaos players, Killing a Beastman! They retaliate by injuring a Saurus, but the Lizards have the edge in Numbers, they run it deep into the Chaos half and stall for a while, injuring another beastman, and KO-ing another, before scoring!
The KOd beastman recovers, but it's still 8 versus 11 for the final attempt.
The chaos team try a brave push down the middle into the lizards half with the ball carrier, who fails a dodge leaving the ball exposed. The Lizards pick up run it deep into the Chaos half, but a misclick means they lose any chance to score. The game peters out

2-1 to The lizards.
A Brutal game, where my Injuring Success and Wyld's relative lack of it proved the difference I suspect.
(7 injuries no KOs until well into the second half is extraordinary by the way!)

BBmanager says I had slightly poorer D6, and slightly poorer block dice, but the Great success with the Armour/injury rolls made up for it i think
<Remember to put something witty in here>

So we tried to play our match again. I was two nil up just before half time. I had even completed a pass to get me on the Cup table. And my connection dies. I've played over two games worth of turns against the dwarves now. This is getting ridiculous. We've rescheduled for Thursday.

Right, I have an engineer coming out to sort my broadband on Saturday so we better postpone our game until after that Spinx.

Hope it all gets sorted for you id3nt, it sounds horribly frustrating.

Put it down to those tough cookies the dwarves who are so resilient and awkward to play against, that one game against a dwarf team feels like three whole games against another opponent. :p

So the engineer actually came out on Wednesday evening. He ran some line tests, but said they were fine, gave us a new router, replaced a connection outside somewhere that was "really old" and gave us a free speed upgrade. Twenty minutes after he left, the connection dropped out again and has been doing so reliably every day since.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do next. Fiber should be coming to my area at the end of the month (three days?) so I might see if that's an option, or investigate ADSL services. I'm outside of the contract period with Virgin so completely free to leave. Not sure that threatening to leave will actually fix the problem as so far the troubleshooting service has been pretty good.

I'm going to be hard pressed to make it this week sadly, we're replacing the carpet in both bedrooms so the PC has been dismantled and shifted. If I get something sorted before Sunday I'll post here, if not we'll catch up later Red Lion.

With various other games being deferred or pre-played that means that the only game sure to happen this week is:

The Brewers Brawlers vs Team Shrek. Beard vs Brawn, Short-arse vs Stuntie it's a classic matchup!

Hello Redlion - I think we are playing next Sunday but I think I may have an inlaw problem and be unavailable. Can you make midweek this week? Tuesday 20.15 would be good if possible? Or Weds?
