Interesting, thanks nj. That makes a lot of sense because I did a lot of pushing to try get Vampires off the pitch.

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Er, Rav, perhaps you could delete the above friendly from Season 5?
Sorry...
Sorry...
Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
If you can get there before Rav - As far as I know in BB manager - the person who submitted the match can delete it.
<Remember to put something witty in here>

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Rav & I played a friendly (Chaos Dwarves vs Ogres). He won 2-0, a TD in both halves I think. The first half started with both of us using a re-roll every turn until we had none left. He felt the game vindicated his decision to take 3 re-rolls and he won fairly convincingly in the end, I never looked close to scoring myself. Block & tackle is really quite annoying to play against as ogres as it gives you counters to my ogres and my snots.
The dice gave me bad luck in concentrated periods, such as 4 consecutive boneheads in one turn, or the first 3 armour rolls on snotlings all resulting in them being off the pitch (knock a snotling over and there is a 30% chance of him leaving the pitch, so 3 consecutive = 2.7%), but it mostly evened itself out overall (my snots were freakishly resilient in the 2nd half). I also rolled an epic 8 defender downs out of 106 block dice rolled. Thankfully I rolled lots of defender stumbles so it was about average in the end but I would've been really annoyed had I been playing a team with dodge.
The game ended with both of us trying to injure Morg, as Rav dropped a fireball on him and I did a 5-assist foul but alas he stayed alive. He then promptly took the MVP, whereas mine went to one of my level 3 snotlings so he's close to level 4 now (!!!!). I managed all of 1 injury but it was to Donkey who has now ascended to level 4, I've been trying to get someone to level 4 for a while now so it was nice to finally make it, and I can pack the Ogres off on their ever-frequent snotling recruitment drive. No serious injuries so it was a real friendly in that regard.
I'm looking forwards to not having to put my strongest players on the front - putting snots on the front line is just asking to play 8v11 imo.

G'day mayte. We played a game too yeah? We've finished our XXXX and ran out of VB so thought we'd better tell you fellas about it

Nil Desperandum punched a demon so hard he refused to wake up all match.
Mayor Tupps can run HARD.
Nil Desperandum learnt how to block as a reward for punching a demon so hard.
PirlOrc was a petulant observer.

Is there a limit on the number of friendlies new teams can play pre-season?

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
I played 2 or 3 (probably 3?) with the vampires before season 5 and thought any more would be a bit much.
But then a quarter of my vampires died after falling on goblins so it didn't really help. I don't even remember his name.

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
haha!! Vampire death.
I'd like to say it was due to some tactical masterclass, but I think he just fell over his own teeth when he tried to dodge.
Serves him right been being such an elf.
My gobbo's played 3, maybe 4. And my Human team has played 2 'I wonder if I'd like to play humans next season' (against La's VampireTesting team) games and 1 'official' friendly. I'd like to play at least one more with them as the start of the new season IS OVER 3 WEEKS AWAY.
I mean, it's not all that likely Percy's lot are gonna go that far in the cup.
Won't be for lack of trying, mind.

I've played two, and would also like to play at least one more.
Do we have a schedule for the cup? It's coming.
Does that start this Sunday? Yes

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Personally I feel more than 3 is too much. Wanted to raise it as I can see id3's team has already played two and as Diagoro said, the new season in over 3 weeks away (14th June?).
S6 is shaping up to be largely a new team league, I feel it would spoil the feel of things if some teams have played 5 and others 0 before the season even starts.

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
I would say that 10 is possibly too much, but anything below that should be fine.
With an early team there's just as much risk that you're gonna have players die, get injured, miss games, etc as you well getting some SPPs to get some much needed skills. It's not much fun going through a whole season not enjoying the games much because you're only playing to get your team some skills/experience to make them fun to play. That's why I find friendlies ideal; it's not like any are played all that differently to a league match, I still respect my opponent as much as I can and I expect them to respect me back.
I don't really see the point in trying to limit a team's growth from new; I totally understand that established teams don't really need the friendly time, but even then I see no harm in them playing. Last season we let Wyld play his very experienced Chaos team (which I didn't mind at all)which in RT terms probably had about 30 pre-season friendlies.
However, if the boss wants to cap friendlies then I'll oblige. I'd probably only really get time for 1 or 2 more before the start of the season anyway.
OR NONE IF PERCY'S LADS MARCH TO THE CUP FINAL.

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
So, in regard to the above posts regarding friendlies - How many can we play Boss?
I've just cleared a night off to play games from the wife and want to make the most of it...

Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Or rather 5 or less, so a maximum of 5. The number of the counting shall be 5. 6 is right out...
Re: Season 6 Sign Up Thread
Thanks for the ruling. I don't mind too much what it is, just that there is one.
edit : do new teams and existing teams all have the same limit?
